Why does everyone order the Executive package?
I’ve noticed over the past few months that almost every competition-model vehicle is spec’d with the executive package. It’s hard to even find a photo of a competition without the Exec. headlights. When I was optioning my car, I looked at the cost and the benefits and I just couldn’t seem to justify it for slightly different headlights, and the heated steering wheel. Sure, the headlights are of the newer style and they look nice, but subjectively not that much better. Wireless phone charging seems slow and cumbersome, and the WiFi hotspot is really a niche need.
I suppose my question is, why did you spec your vehicle with or without executive package? Am I missing something here? Or is the purchase of this option really just a consequence of the fact that there aren’t any other options to add to the car besides the color and moonroof? |

Same as above. FYI, here's pics showing the difference.

I was able to spec stuff separately on my car. I got the adaptive headlights and wireless charger.
Based on my experience now, I'd only get the adaptive headlights. The wireless charger heats up your phone way too quickly for it to do its job effectively. Edit: To clarify, I don't have heated steering or seats. With that said, I wonder how much the heating elements weigh. |

I think you touched on it, but I got the Ex pkg for...
- adaptive headlights (though I prefer HID over LED) - heated steering wheel Of course, I have an OG M2, so I'm not sure what could have been spec'd with an M2C. |

I went back and forth because I usually do not want lots of extras. After watching multiple videos on the headlights and how they work, I was sold on the tech. I am also in NJ and for the winter the heated steering wheel is nice. Ultimately, it is stuff that will help when trying to resell the car.

I didn't order the exec package on my 2021 build.
Heated steering and wireless charging were useless for me. I may have gone w/ the lights as an a la carte option for the adaptive function, but I kinda like the more rounded coronal lights like the OG M2 (I'm prob in the minority). Also, I figure fewer things that'll break or not function properly over the life of the car. Cost isn't really an issue as $1200 is a reasonable ask for those features. |

Literally the only reason I got it is for the halo design of the headlights. Heated steering wheel is pointless in CA, wifi is useless, and wireless charger is actually a negative. But the non-exec package LEDs look exactly like a 2015-2017 ish BMW and it looks significantly older to me (coming from my previous M240i which had exactly the same headlights as the non exec package M2C).

I guess a better question is, does anyone regret the exec package option or if you had to make that choice again would you chose differently? Last edited by Zagnificent55; 09-23-2020 at 04:26 PM.. |

Everyone here ordered it. So I did too. I'm a weak minded, awkward, always susceptible to peer pressure lemming.

1. The adaptive headlights are dope. They make the front of the car, obviously at night. They look new, aggressive, and high tech. I couldn't imagine going with the old HIDs. They also work really well and I personally love how they auto adjust when you turn the car on. To be honest, I don't think the M2C should even come with the old headlights. It's a $60K+ BMW, it should come with adaptive LEDs, this isn't a Honda Accord. It's really a night and day difference (pardon the pun).
2. Heated wheel. I live in the PNW, I need that. 3. Resale, cars with Executive Package will have a higher resale value than cars without it. 4. That's literally it. The Wifi i couldn't honestly care less. It's a weird subscription service that i'm never going to use nor pay for, so in reality, why even bother? The wireless charger is completely useless for phones built after 2015. It's tiny, it is enclosed so it will overheat your phone, I think it is even a fire hazard.

As others have said, adaptive headlights are a must-have. They are more than just slightly different. They truly transform the front end. Given the option, I couldn't live without them. The heated steering wheel is awesome, as well. You don't realize it, until you don't have it.
I don't regret getting exec pack one bit. In fact, if a la carte was available, I would still choose adaptive headlights and heated steering wheel. It's not like these options add any weight. The only thing I opted not to get is the sunroof. Personal preference and more headroom for taller folks. |

I like driving with my windows down most of the time, I don't own gloves living in Florida and hate driving with them.
Heated steering wheel is a must have for me. I love the headlights. Wireless charging is useless... Wi-fi hotspot is useless... I don't understand why cars like Porsche coupes and BMW coupes even bother... |

Because for the minimal cost its a no-brainer, unless you really really dont want it. The M2 has like 3 non-CF options, and exec in the cheapest with a couple of nice to haves

Mostly resale and for the nicer headlights.
Honestly, in retrospect I might not have gone for it. The wireless charger is almost useless even though i try to use it regularly. The headlights are cool looking and definitely better but not worth 1200 bucks on their own. Surprisingly the heated steering wheel has been the best part of the package. But again, i dunno. That's a ton of money for two features, granted nice headlights are always expensive. I'm very much on the fence about if i'd go for it again if did it all over again. I certainly like having 2/3 features...but yeesh. There's a lot you could do with a thousand+ dollars. |

I did not order mine - rather picked up what was available. But I really like the adaptive lights and knew I wanted the heated steering wheel. Took me a week to figure out how to turn the heated wheel on and then to realize you don't get it with the MP steering wheel upgrade.

I did not pick executive package. I was not crazy about adaptive headlights. I had them on my 135i and didn’t like the swivel. Just my opinion and my mechanic said more to go wrong. In my opinion I like the look of my headlights better. I live in the cold and heated steering wheel means nothing. My hands dont get cold in a car. With todays I-phone I never need to charge in the car. And finally, resale is negligible. Most people look at transmission first, then color and then moonroof. Those are all go or no go for most people.

The market is very specific on these cars used. You'd be surprised how many people would pass on an M2C without adaptive LED headlights, knowing that most have it, even if it fit the remaining criteria: 6MT with the right color and no moonroof. |
