I agree. Based on a number of similarly awkward designs, I'd say that BMW body styling folks are struggling with spoiler shapes, sizes and lid placements on different BMW car models.

I totally agree that these M Performance parts are too expensive. I'll give the designers credit for the very clean look on the M2C Concept car without turning it into a muscle car monster. In this form it is a better looking M2C. Besides the costs, I'm not a fan of the frozen gold wheels.

So many better cars can be had for 130k. If these parts were an extra 10-15k total, maybe.

Perhaps festooning a car with thousands of Euros worth of M performance CF components appeals to some, yet much of that expensive ballast has very little effect on the vehicle performance. However, I can see a big poser appeal in a car "decorated" in that manner.

If that is really wanted, why not "decorate" the car with ABS components instead for a fraction of the CF cost, wherever CF is nor warrantied structurally, and then put the money left over into uprating the engine output/drivetrain, interior comfort features and such.
This is the problem with BMW. They are into overpriced body panels and faux weight saving interior gimmicks, but never put the money where it’s important for performance. Look at what GM and Ford are able to do with their product levels in comparison.

If you want a Shelby Ford Mustang GT500 sticker price will be around $73,000.00. It's faster than the M2C and more of an eye catcher.

"It will be possible to load up the GT500 with options, too. The Carbon Fiber Track Package will add $18,500 to the price and will add parts like 20-inch carbon wheels, adjustable strut-top mounts, adjustable rear wing, thick-bolstered Recaro seats, rear-seat delete, and front splitter wickers. The Technology Package for $3,000 will include a better stereo, blind-spot monitoring, mirrors with memory positions, power driver seats, and puddle lamps showing a snake on the ground. The $1,500 Handling Package will pack a Gurney flap and splitter wickers. Specifying all of these packages takes the GT500's price to $96,995."

Now you really have an excellent, uniquely rare, personal car. You can always find some better.

I'm ok with my M2C. I think BMW made a choice for their market place.

It’s a Halo package. It’s suppose to be expensive. Every car company does this. I think the idea is to showcase everything and then the actual buyer picks and chooses what parts they like best. IMO...Modding is a labor of love and always a horrible investment for your money. I lost my azz on $21k of factory options on my last Porsche C4S. You are lucky to get 10 cents on the dollar for the parts when selling/trading the car.

We were there on 28th - IMO it looked good but not great - a bit too much. My wife liked the frozen gold wheels a lot more than I would have thought.

Good luck finding one without a $50k markup

The BBK kit isn't standard in all markets, so If someone doesn't have them cause they brought a used car then they can still get the BBK or If someone just left the regular breaks when specing they can upgrade them if they wanted to.

I lived there for a while way back in 1999, it was an awesome place to be that time in my life. There is a lot more beyond the blinking lights of the city, there are islands, jungle, beautiful hiking trails and beaches. That being said, I cannot recall any roads where you could really push a car like an M2C. However seeing this pic with a performance parts M2 and 2 E46 M3s makes you realize there is a scene and passion for the brand -- the cost of the car probably pales in comparison to taxes, insurance and above all, a parking spot in the city.
