Every car I own will have PPF and ceramic.
What a difference in ease washing, keeping clean, no marring, scratches, swirls, etc. Here’s mine at the shop in early December. LOVE IT!!! |

Absolutely, once you go this route you don’t look back. Specially the wheels/calipers, very little dust get stuck and whatever bit of dirt comes off with just a quick wash 🧼

Absolute waste of money doing ceramic on top of PPF because you are coating the plastic and not the car body
I am also Derek's customer and he does great work but expensive

I had Xpel Ultimate Plus installed professionally and coated the entire car with Optimum Gloss Coat with my friend in his garage. Less than $100 spent on coating and temp sealer to complete the process. I agree it isn't needed but sure makes cleaning much easier, even over the PPF.

PPF alone is not naturally hydrophobic, contaminates easily, is harder to keep clean, and doesn't have that high gloss/shine. Ceramic solves for that which is why you typically place ceramic on top of PPF.

Use a sealant like hydrosilex and apply yourself once every 6 months, problem solved

I ceramic coated my wheels, and no difference in level of effort required to clean. Still need to get on your knees and scrub away at the wheels. No free lunch with CC the wheels.

That's odd. I noticed a fairly dramatic difference. Before I had to scrub the wheels. After applying ceramic, I no longer have to scrub, simply wiping them down is sufficient. I do wash the car every weekend though so the brake dust doesn't have a chance to accumulate / cake. Still hate the amount of dust the brakes generate.

If you are washing car every week its not an issue either way. I wash every 2-3 months and a big pain to clean these wheels

it depends what film you get, many companies offer a higher end one with hydrophobic properties now so you don't need the additional step of a ceramic coating
