+1

I would definitely add a fuel filter if possible, fuel contamination is pretty common when the cap is open and you are in a dusty location. Along with dirty fuel nozzles, contamination from filling up gas station tanks etc. Better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to clogging expensive direct injectors.

Just to add, most of the Bend Calibration kits should come with one of these fuel line removal tools which does help but isn't needed. Most are either a green billet or black polycarbonate piece.

Another take on the install, I never disconnected the battery or unplugged my lpfp and there was barely anything that came out of the connection. To prime the system I had my wife open the door so I could flush the fuel line/filter assembly to a pail prior to connecting the end of the assembly to the main line.

Very nice!

I definitely will now be buying this fuel filter kit, however I still am waiting on MHD to see their flex fuel and how it stacks up against BM3 and ecutek. I've used ecutek in the past on my frs and know it is really good stuff, but I am still curious to see how the others will stack up.

It'll actually be easier to dial in a new HPFP on ECUTek than BM3

Yeah, we discovered the fuel line removal tool after I had already removed it

One thing that wasn't entirely clear. How tight does the retaining nut need to be that holds the fuel line on place?

I'm working with Nostrum to get their HPFP added to the drop down menu on BM3 OTS maps. Hence the reason I'm sticking with that tune for now.

I have some other mods coming later this year, at which point we'll likely be switching over to Ecutek.

Not aware of any nuts, but if you mean the tiny screw for the line holder then snug. Iirc it's a pretty small screw so shouldn't go torquing that to anything crazy.

The part I'm talking about around 9:05 in the video. I couldn't really get a wrench on it, and it didn't want to turn much past finger tight anyways.

Just want to make sure I do not need to tighten it further.

EDIT: My kit didn't really come with any instructions. I ended up with a couple extra pieces that I wasn't entirely sure what they were for.

1 small screw, and 1 piece that looked like a hose fitting.

I'll go grab them and snap some pictures. Maybe you'll know what they're for.

So first Pic is the tiny screw you were talking about. I have a feeling this is probably important but I'm unsure where it goes.

Second pic is some kind of hose fitting. Maybe for for connecting a hose to the Schrader valve on the filter for draining?

If you contact Bend Calibration they have full and detailed installation instructions.

The Schrader fitting is to depressure the fuel filter when replacing; that comes with the F750.

The small screw is for the hose retainer hold down and is optional if you want to screw it to the bracket.

Thanks for the clarification, I can sleep better now.

Just watched detroitm2's video on the fuel filter from bend and now I retract all prior statements about potential damage. Prior to the video I was misinformed about how the filter mounted (both orientation and placement) and now that I see it is mounted in the same area that fuel it would put their flex sensors I absolutely think that is absolutely an adequately safe are. I also think as of right now this kit has the best mounting position and best install for a fuel filter, the best part is the fact that it mounts where the awd components would and thus no drilling is needed.

The only complaints I see is the extreme messiness of the stock line kit and how much you have to bend some fuel lines. I would personally recommend getting an upgraded fuel line kit as well to keep the lines neat and tidy. The second complaint is that you cannot easily see the flow gauge when it is mounted under the car.

Overall I am very impressed with this kit and will be getting one myself, good job bend.

So about the messiness of the fuel lines.

I spoke with Bend about this, and they recommend completely removing that bracket. There are some hose tie downs included that I did not use in the video.

I meant to do a followup video to cover some things I figured out post install, but haven't had the time.

As for access to the filter. My plan is to cut a trap door in the bottom of skid plate to make it easier to get to. I realize you still have to get under the car, but it's better than having to remove like 20 screws.

I just got this new harness from Ian at Bend, should make for wiring up the Zeitronix kit much easier.

Commanderwiggin FYI and thanks for the heads up.

detroitm2 quick question, did you or do you have any interference with when the AIM is connected and the OBD port on the drivers side? Only reason I ask is because I recall there being issues with signals being blocked when my AWRON was connected in my e9x and I think someone posted something similar when their AK-Motion display is connected. If that doesn't make sense, I'll try to re-explain.

Not that I'm aware of. But I do not regularly use the OBD port for anything.

Glad you got sorted! Yeah that new harness is nice.

As for having two devices plugged into the OBD, I've seen one example where it doesn't work and that was a Mustang dyno obd plug and the Ecutek OBD on the fast logging OBD; they both would not work together...so I'd imagine it's one item at a time kinda thing.

Ya so stoked for this. I'll be sure to document for sure. As for the OBD, yes I don't use it alot but I was just curious because I've seen it "block" a signal to the OEM OBD port if something else was plugged.
