Side Grill Re-adhesive
What adhesive would be best for reinstalling the side grills? Im thinking 3M double sided, as typically used, but not confident with it being able to contour like the OEM was (pictured).

3M automotive double sided tape from any auto parts store.... nothing fancy. I personally got the narrower one so I could outline the back of the piece with more ease but it's not hard to cut it to shape at all. Make sure it's the thin kind so it sits as close to flush as possible.

It doesn't need to be as perfectly cut as the OEM. Just get a thin (1/4 inch) tape and try to cover as much surface as you can.
Alternatively if you haven't taken it off yet you can just swap the chrome/black trim part of the grille and leave the plastic base attached. |

Just slide some dental floss in between the bar and base at the rear pointing tip, slip towards the front till it catches on the tab and pull outward and be ready to catch it. It comes off laughably easy. You could probably just use your finger nail honestly. Just be sure when you push it back in you hear it snap in or it will fall out.

I used 3m adhesive promoter on the original tape - worked like a charm for the used set I bought on here.

Definitely a sub 5 minute job. I would have been upset if I'd learned about leaving the backplate attached after doing the swap.

In my experience, I can say that it is better to use hot glue for metal and plastic. Hot glue shows itself better in this situation. I once tried to attach the handle to the trunk with a regular superglue, as I needed a quick result to transport a large number of things to the house. The first days everything worked fine, but after the rain passed, the situation deteriorated greatly. After that, I looked at the detailed review on the best glue guns and bought myself one. More than two months have passed since then and I can say that it's doing its job. Have you had a similar experience?

I reused the OG tape on my aftermarket one and applied 3M adhesive booster that did the trick.
Many lip and spoiler companies recommend using the 3M adhesive booster when doing the initial install. The stuff works amazingly well. Used it on 385 hotel rooms for electric blinds on a construction project. Haven't had very many come down (because of asshole guests).
