1 month in

After one month of driving my 2019 M2C, I finally feel like I don't have to drive it to its limits lol. Today Ijust wanted a normal drive so I placed it in efficiency mode with sport steering and DriveLogic at 2. Seemed like the perfect setting when just wanting to drive normally. Most of the time I do like to drive in sequential (manual) mode though. With 5000 miles on these tires it feels like they spin quite easily and I'm afraid I will frequently be going through tires.

Really depends how hard you're driving the car. My front tyres are still on factory after four years and I've only changed the rears last year, they didn't wear out but had misfortune of unrepairable puncture.

After 3 years and 21k miles, I still always drive in S, and in manual mode 100% of the time (with shifts at 3). I dont think I would enjoy this car just laying back and driving along in auto mode and not engaging every moment

Try Comfort steering. It's the only mode I'll use - the others just feel artificially weighted. I actually get more "feel" in Comfort. Lots of early reviewers came to the same conclusion.

Yup, both my M modes switch it to comfort. I’m always kinda bothered that sport is the default

Mine too. I wish it could be coded to default to Comfort. Better yet, not even have multiple modes. Or if I’m being greedy, just give us a g.d. hydraulic rack!

all the instructors at the performance center said they preferred comfort on the M2C.

I agree. I love driving it in sport plus sequential, but I love having the option if when I want.

I felt exactly the same when I first got the car, I felt that there was more steering feel in comfort mode. But over time, I realized that comfort mode seemed a little "darty" on casual drives around town. So lately, I went back to "sport". However, I'm still not sure which I like for regular driving on public roads. I definitely liked comfort setting when I drove on the track with those manufacturer M performance driving events.

Yeah, I'll actually switch to sport+ for long highway drives where i'm not going to be turning the wheel very much. The car is definitely less nervous in Sport+.

But comfort for any sort of "fun" driving

Had a slightly different experience when I was stock, found myself driving in sport throttle more (always comfort steering though). After getting the AA catted downpipe all connected to the EL mid pipe to the AA exhaust I will say, it has allowed me to love the car in full comfort mode doing casual drives and the throttle response does feel nice yet still very pedestrian.

Though I suppose for full disclosure I did only have the stock tune on for all of one day before I went into an MHD e30 tune 🙂. Had truly allowed me to love not only driving the car how it should be driven but causal driving and reaching that 2k rpm makes me smile, every time.

Similar, but after 4 years the UV ageing had destroyed the fronts whereby the shoulder was cracked and split all the way round and the edge tread blocks were starting to lift off the carcass.

They would have failed UK annual inspection so i had to change them despite plenty of tread left.

First time I've had tyres for 4 years in a long time, I'll not go past 3 next time..

Gotta get CS coding: Makes sport + steering feel awesome!

The M2C has the same steering setting as the CS, both are set to F87CS. There is no coding to be done.

Yet they feel completely different when you drive them. I think there is a lot of confusion as the M2C was designated F87CS and even had CS stampings on various parts. I think a lot of these “CS” tuning settings are actually the standard M2C settings. So I suspect you are correct.

Could this be attributed to the CS' wheel and tire combo?

The vast majority of the mechanical parts of the car are identical part numbers between the M2C and CS. The S55 and all its ancillary equipment is identical other than the M2/3/4 CS magnesium oil pan (which is identical in dimensions but they use a different oil level sensor to indicate full with 1/2 liter additional oil in the engine) -- the tune is the only difference. The suspension parts are identical part numbers other than the adaptive damping shocks and likely selected spring rate. The transmissions are identical. Etc, etc. All the bracing used in the engine compartment and underneath is identical between the M2C and CS, etc.

Yes. Could be. Or placebo. Lighter 763 wheels and 200TW tires will certainly feel different vs. heavier 788 wheels with MPSS.

Could be, as soon as I put PS cup 2s on my 788 wheeled M2C after PSS the car felt very different steering wise.

Much better centering and lost some of the vagueness around dead-ahead.

More immediate steering response from centre and much more surface feedback through the wheel over bumps and lines and cat eyes etc

michelins own website says the cup2 saves about 2 seconds per 2 minute lap against the ps4s or supersport. Then add on the CS tune difference.

https://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/3phzz3r0zfpd

if you do the math there is maybe a few tenths difference in those laps (mostly due to suspension changes, less unsprung mass with the wheels / brakes). just dont tell the CS guys that, they'll just go on about investment status.
