Firstly, i didn't had the opportunity to own older cars , but i drove few. Previously i had a 2018 N55 M2 LCI equipped with DCT and it was nice , but after 2 years it became a bit boring , i never really became one with the car , it was like i was controlling the steering wheel and the throttle and brakes , and somebody else was shifting for me (no full control ). And the DCT is a great gearbox , probably the best Automatic transmission BMW has ever made , unlike the SMG which is the worst automatic transmission BMW has ever put in an M car , it ruins the whole experience.

Anyway ,after hours and hours watching youtube , reading magazines and the forums here , i kind of regretted going with the auto. i felt that i had to experience a manual car - everyone was talking so passionate about manual gearboxes !

At the time the only BMW that was offered with manual transmission was the M2 CS. I knew that special limited edition models does not come with manual since E30 M3 Sport Evo and E36 M3 LTW/GT , and i knew that i had to have a manual in my garage , if not now , then when and what car? - what a luck , the M2 CS quickly became THE car for me to own. Ill have to say by the way , i was 23 when i bought my first BMW , the 2018 N55 M2. It was the perfect all around car for me !

I was lucky to get the only allocation given to the Country/island , and i couldnt wait for the car to arrive. I remember the first time i got into the car , and touched the manual gear shifter ... ill never ever forget that [...]
I can't agree with you more, the M2 CS may not be the best Christmas present ever, but it's the one you keep going back to when you want to have fun 😊

i have a 991.2 gt3 (manual) and m2c (dct)

911, even a base carrera, is the better sports car. it was designed as one from the start, it didn't start life as a 35k 228i and then get beefed up. If you look at lap times and performance figures the carrera matches the m2cs everywhere despite being on shittier tires. the m2cs pulls away after 60-70mph as it has more engine.

https://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/u773k13amv2b

But that being said...almost nobody orders or wants a base carrera. its a stripper model. it doesn't even get an LSD and you can't option one. If you are going 911 at the very least you want an S model.

My vote is for M2cs. will hold value much better. m-dct is nearly as good as pdk. you have usable back seats. servicing costs are more reasonable. and its more fun on the street.

A long overdue successor to the i8 and a spiritual successor to the M1. A car like this that's future looking would do wonders.

I love the idea but can't help thinking the front looks too much like Sid from Ice Age

Thank you everyone for the advice!
Posting in here again with an update.

The M2CS is now down to $82,599 one month later.

Their trade offer for my car has gone down $2500 but they’ve lowered the price of their car $5200.

It makes me nervous that this car won’t hold value well like the M3/M4 CS cars.

Do I still go for it?

Also, in response to buying an M2CS manual, the least expensive one is $10-15k more than this DCT one. Hence why I was considering trying DCT.

Lol, no. This is a 2-owner and not from Canada.

I think it's down to your gut feeling and where your heart ❤️ is. If it's a dream to have a P-car. That's your answer. Don't let an internet forum make your decision. The CS is very understated. It's not going to impress your friends. It's a great daily with across the board utility. Drive from the track to Costco. The P-car you presented is not something I'd buy. I'd get a better spec. I always advise to look inward and follow what resonates with you. The CS will always have a high floor because owners, at some point, will no sell them below a certain threshold. There are too few of them. Those that have them know what they are.

The F80/82 CSs did not hold their value well at the two year mark.

It seems used F87 CSs have been trading at MSRPish recently? So some of the uncertainty about value has been answered.

Most cars are not investments though. 600ish came stateside? And some will never change hands. Drive it and enjoy…

yup. i remember when these launched and nobody wanted them. huge discounts with dealers taking 20-30k off lease msrp. people were jumping from comp to cs leases for little to no extra money.

there is a m3cs for sale on autotrader with no accidents and 20k miles asking 70k (original msrp around 100) and there are fewer m3cs in the united states than m2cs.
