its true 94 petro has ethanol in it, it even says on their website if you dig, i was surprised by this as the pump does not warn about having ethanol in it
i think any 91 without ethanol is the way to go, Shell Vpower and Ultramar is what i am using |

I'm running stg 2 93 OTS map from PTF and use only Petro 94. No issues. You do have to make sure that it is 94 in the pump...don't just assume a yellow paddle/button means 94...I almost made that mistake at one station, but was clever enough to ask the attendant, and he said it was in fact only 91. So moved on to another station. Now have it nailed down to only 2 stations that I use where I know it is 94.

Shell 91 (no ethanol) is better gasoline than any of the nationwide 94's which all use ethanol to achieve their octane level. There's a reason a lot of the GTR owners in Vancouver drive to Washington to fill their cars with US Chevron 92 (no ethanol) over Canadian Chevron 94. The only time our 94 is better is if you get the car pro-tuned for that gasoline.

I did somes testing at the strip with 94 vs 91 running MHD OTS 91 map and the results were mostly the same.. What I have not tested much is running the 93 Map with 94. Another test I did was run Boostane with 100octane mix and the 95 Map ran a lot better than the 91 map. My guess at explaining this is the 91 map seems to run the most boost possible that creates much heat with the stock turbo and ends up having the intercooler struggle. The 95oct map seems to run less boost and more timing wich helps a little bit iat.

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=860059 Regardless our gasoline is not as good as US gasoline in general and it's why a lot of canned tunes from the US don't run as well on Canadian vehicles. Cobb tuning started recommending Canadians to run their 91 ACN California maps with STI's running their maps even if you have 94 Canadian gasoline available and I can verify a lot of knock on Husky 94 with Cobb 91 regular maps until I got a pro-tune then I was good to go. Was thinking I should be putting some Boostane in as well, but doesn't that create an unwanted orange film on the engine parts? Can't remember if it was Boostane or another Octane Booster... |

Not very scientific I know, but just based on feel my M2 seems to prefer the Chevron 94 we have here on Vancouver Island to Shell V Power 91. Just seems smoother and more responsive.
Very subjective I know, but with only 2 cents per litre price difference, and a Chevron station across the street from my condo, no reason not to use it. |

Reviving an old thread. I'm just about to install my FMIC and charge pipes. Already have Fabspeed DP. Im going to be switching to Stage 2 BM3. Anyone have any input on our gas in BC. I want to run the 93 Octane map... But is the Chevron 94 good enough. Or should a guy run the 91ACN map with Shell 91..
