Scraped the corner of the front bumper
I knew it's gonna happen sooner or later, and voi-la, it happened today. I was parking and an angled end space and did not realize that the curb is in front is actually bent back to perpendicular to the space and is really tall. There it is. only noticeable when I look at it. nonetheless an imperfection.
Any advice how to deal with it? touch up paint and live with it? I do not want to repaint the whole front facade just for that? the scratched surface is really fuzzy. Can the paint shop do a good job just spot paint that? Thank you for your input in advance. |

Consider yourself lucky, this happened to me this morning.
$3,240.81 parts & labor repair estimate not counting re-application of CQuart Finest paint protection to the painted surfaces. Last edited by RAM_F30_F87; 06-12-2018 at 08:36 PM.. |

If it were in a more noticeable place I would get it painted, but It's so low to the ground that from the looks it won't be noticeable if you lightly sand and touch it up. If you're OCD and the thought of simply knowing it's there bothers you get it painted. I'm sure you could find a body shop that will paint it without doing the entire bumper, but most will want to pull it off or shoot the whole thing. Not worth the hassle IMO.

Following this thread, since I did the same thing myself in a low driveway. Mine is a bit less noticeable since its more underneath. Still drives me nuts though...

I mean I do too but still have scrapes under the front bumper. My work has an awkward driveway that is very easy to scrape on, especially when it is risk a scrape or get rear ended because people don't pay attention.

Ya, parking can be a bitch, especially if you are coming from / your other car has front sensors! Hoping someone will retrofit the sensors from the M2Comp!

I scraped the middle bottom. I used 2000 grit wet sanding paper slightly sanded off the rough edges so that it’s smooth again. Just used touch up paint. In ur case I would just slightly sand down the rough edge and leave it. Car is black

Sucks man, but I know that misery loves company, so...I have the same thing. Mine’s a bit more underneath though so you have to practically stick your head under the car to see it. Plus, the exposed plastic is black, and my car is MG, so that makes it even tougher to notice.
Whatever happened that caused the scrape ripped up the very edge of my clear bra that wrapped under the car too. I’m taking my car to my local detailer next week for a bunch of stuff...while it’s there he’s gonna touch up the scratch, replace the piece of clear bra that was damaged, and install Scrape Armor under the bumper. Like you I feel it’s just not worth having the whole bumper resprayed (and my clear bra removed and reinstalled) for something so minor. |

I'm also a victim of realizing how low the front bumper is. Fortunately only scraped the underside middle. Used some touch up paint and called it a day since you can't see it without sticking your head under.

sorry to hear/see that you scratched your car. It's not light but it's not too bad either. I don't know of any hacks to make it look better. but if you drive your car often, you'll have to expect it's not going to look perfect after a while.
I have a couple of small marks on my car, I drive it to work everyday. seems pretty good considering how much traffic it faces, pot holes, rocks, etc. |

You guys should get a plastic front lip installed so with any surface contact it will just scratch the front lip instead and won't damage the paint on the bumper.
Something like this will do the trick and makes the front of the car looks more complete |

Do you have a link for the plastic front lip?
Most of what I've seen were decorative carbon fiber lips. |

A few years ago I was considering a Jaguar F-Type, and I noticed that though the front bumper is low, they have a kind of sacrificial soft rubbery piece that is lower than the painted bumper. It seemed like a good idea, and to replace it was only a few hundred. If it's designed into the car, and looks cohesive, it's a wonder why no other manufacturers do similar. I guess they don't care once they've sold the car!
