LOL true. yesterday was around -1 at noon but it felt like spring was coming with the sun out. Then we wake up to this cold today...

The NEXENs on my son's Subaru are a pretty decent option. But you are kidding yourself if you think winter tires are all basically the same. To be fair, in the GTA it might not make much difference, but there is a lot to be said for buying the winter tire configuration that best matches your local environment.

Like you, we don't get too much heavy snow in Kingston. But we do get lots of slush, ice, and rain. I have an "ice" compound tire with lots of sipes, and not deep snow lugs on my GTI. It's been great. But if I lived closer to Ottawa or Barrie, I'd probably want something like Hakkas or Nokians with much more "snow" properties.

Hakkas on my 128i are by far the best snow tire I've ever had.

On dry cold not so much for spirited driving.

I can’t wait. One of my wheels is off balance and the car vibrates slightly when I go above 90kmph. I would get the summers mounted by the end of March anyway so Im wondering if it would be a good idea to spend $200 bucks at this time to get road force balancing?! Btw, Im going to mount the summers on the same set of wheels.

Xice 3s are great winter tires. I loved them when I had them on my Accord.

I agree that $200 is pricey.

Roadforce balancing is generally a bit more expensive and in the $120-140 price range for all fours. $200 was quoted by the dealer.

hmm just wait until you get the summers swapped on and have them do it at the same time, for $200 make them include the tire swap
