Front Licence Plate

Picked the car yesterday and they did not install the licence plate..saying it was an M car and most want the side mount and do it themselves using a system that mounts on the tow point.
What do other Canadians do?
I know we have the super ugly plates compared to the Brits but I'm tempted to go right in the usual spot - centre front bumper.
thoughts?

I purchased a tow hook relocate from US Millworks. It has a quick release so I can easily remove it when detailing. If you want to keep the plate centred, I believe Carbonio makes a mount that doesn’t require drilling.

Thanks for the advice. Will order the Carbonio mount.

I went with the Sto-N-Sho which is going to be pretty similar to the Carbonio mount.

I love the way I can so easily remove the plate, it's really useful for washing and for the track. It did require drilling but the hole wouldn't be visible because it's on the underside of the grills.

I think there are enough out of province cars (quebec, florida, etc) that it's getting harder for them to see you have a ontario plate.

I tried this with my last car. After the first ticket I got pulled over 3 more times in less than a month and hassled pretty bad.

In Ontario every ticket counts for insurance. If you get 2 it is hard to get Insurances. Don't ask me how I know...
I personally would rather save them up for speeding!

Front plate tickets carry the same weight as a parking ticket - they do not affect insurance.

I haven’t run a front plate on any of my vehicles in the past 7 years with the exception of the Raptor since front plates carry the sticker on trucks in Ontario.

Yep...that is a good point. $110 fine and it is not a moving violation.

Hey Greg,

This is Ethan back.

I had US Mill Work tow hook one and it is very very well made. But switched to Carbonio as I did not like the look of plate hanging at the side personally.

If you are interested in buying mine which is used.. (some wear on the screws as I did installation and take them back out, but works without any issue) let me know.

Mine is lightened version with quick released.
New ones are 129USD as a kit (before duties and taxes).

Already have my Carbonio installed sorry! Interesting they are just round the corner from me but would not cut me a deal so had them ship to my US address and saved the tax!

I think it's absolutely bonkers that those in front plate provinces don't prevent their dealers from drilling their bumper and ruining it versus just using a tow hook mount

Running without a front plate. Knocking on wood so far things have been fine with the daily commute route that I take to work and such. I'd almost make the argument that the ticket is worth not having that thing on the front.

Picking up the car on friday. I specifically repeated to them not to drill the holes.

I have been running my s2000 for past 2 years without a front plate, so I might just have to continue with the M2 unless I find a good solution.
