Yessss...! they delivered my long beach blue M2 last week!
To make a long story short, I first saw that car when I returned my 2015 X5 to my dealer about two years ago. I had never heard of the M2 before that day. There was a LBB M2 waiting to be delivered in the showroom, and I was in awe! I had been dreaming about owning an M3 for the past 18 years or so but was saddened to see what the model had become year after year. The M2 I saw on that day was the M3 I dreamt about when I was younger. Then I forgot about sports cars for a while, until I heard about the M2 competition two months ago. Looking at the specs of the new M2 I felt a sense of urgency: the M2 that I saw in the showroom will no longer be produced but is still available (new) at many BMW dealers (or so I thought). I started comparing the two models and the more I compared, the more I wanted the 2018 M2. I greatly preferred the older model’s wheels, kidney grilles and seats (I still do). More power? I have never owned a sports car, and I was sure any of the two engines would fully satisfy me. I then quickly found out that time was running out. I live in Quebec, Canada. I could not find any new long beach blue M2s in my province and I had to import it from British Columbia. I got a great deal on a Long beach blue M2 with DCT and M performance exhaust with only 80 kms on the odometer and a full warranty, courtesy of Park Shore BMW of Vancouver. It took 3 weeks for the car to travel (by truck and train) the 4400 km between Vancouver and where I live. I could not be happier with my purchase! what a nice car the M2 is! I would chose the LCI over the competition again any time, and even more after seeing the latest youtube videos showcasing the competition’s exhaust notes...I so much prefer the growling and low notes of my N55 vs the higher, more metallic notes of the competition’s S55. In fact, my M2s engine’s noise is what I prefer above everything else so far (1 week owner) ! Months of enjoyment ahead! What a wonderful car the M2 (LCI or competition) is! Congrats!
Every time I take my M2 out, it brings a smile to my face! and I couldn't agree more with you about the wheels and grill of the M2 looking nicer then those of the M2C! The sound of the engine is also exquisite.... but i haven't heard the engine of an M2C yet, so I can't honestly compare the two! Hope you have years of enjoyment! |

Fantastic choice!
I'm sure the M2C is a fantastic evolution of our cars but which knucklehead at BMW approved that 55 gallon drum of a muffler hanging out from under the bumper cover, simply horrid, and I bet the first thing to be modded on these cars, they could have at least put a dark coating on it so it wouldn't stand out! |

As my first (real) post on this forum, I must say that I feel right at home, with all those friendly comments! I have been away for 9 days and I can’t stop thinking about driving that M2 again as soon as I come back!

Congrats. The M2 is certainly a very fun car. I'm getting one of my wheels repaired for curb-rash and I miss driving it this week. Like you, I've liked the OG M2 from the beginning just the way it was.

Similar story
I also got into a 2018 LCI M2 a couple of weeks ago. I moved from the F80 M3 that I'd been slightly disappointed with for lack of feel and involvement.
The manual M2 is the modern equivalent of the E36 and 46 M3 and I couldn't be happier. Awesome car.

Do you regret the move to a vehicle with a different motor configuration? Many people feel it's a must to get one motor vs the other. You've driven cars with both, how do you feel about it? |
