It's stupid for sure - but I don't think current M2 owners really care about that kind of stuff...I know for sure of at least a few who don't.

The new car will undoubtedly be objectively faster and whatnot - but it might not stir the soul in the same way, we just have to wait and see once people start getting their respective hands on the M2C. I, for one, am excited to find out...but not in a way that is demeaning to the original car. Without the original car's success, we wouldn't have the M2C. So it must be pretty awesome.

I'm just happy to have an M2 that doesn't sound like the M3/M4, I'm not on edge on performance otherwise I could have bought an barely used M4 for way cheaper I got my M2. IMHO, the M2C is just now a smaller M4... With hopefully still less intrusive nanies.

the Speedo tach is analogue in all versions of the m2, but the lci is backlit, which looks digital to the untrained eye.
I see. The faces of the speedo/tach I drove looked so digital that I didn't even question whether it was or not.

Did I heared optional M seats?

If everything is going to be a option, i will stick with the M3 or buy the M3 CS. It looks like you only pay 20k extra voor the s55 engine and a other 10k for all the options that should be standard...

Yes, and think of all that extra mass and size you get for the price too! You get to go from a sports car (M2) to a Grand Touring car!

Yes, that was sarcastic. I know there is a car for everyone and we all have our priorities, but the difference between an M2 and M3 put them in entirely different categories. They really are apples and oranges.
Hell, for that matter an M2/M4 comparison is almost apples and oranges.

I can say this with all honesty - if an M2 and M4 were to cost exactly the same, I would still choose the M2 every day of the week.

Sure, the M4 is a nice car and all, but to me it's a boat and has moved out of the agile/fun sports car department into the mature GT market.

But to each his own. My perspective is coming from 6 years in a 135, so my tolerance for anything significantly bigger is pretty much nil.

As I think someone else mentioned, this video looks so amateur. I mean, the car is cool but the video is just bad.

Digital clusters are currently a trending topic among car manufacturers. Nowadays, you can even order it on, say, a Volkswagen Polo or Audi Q2.

Would be a surprise if BMW would not offer it on a future M2 (either standard or at least as an option). BMW is already rolling it out throughout its range since several years. Only a matter of time before it trickles down to its top dog of the 2 Series. In the meantime we got the oldskool analog (M2) or black panel analog (M2 LCI and M2 Competition).

Well, it's not like they are new - versions of digital gauge clusters have been around since the 80's (I think there was a corvette with one back then).
I just don't care for them, but I know at some point they will become almost inevitable.

That was a low blow by BMW to current M2 owners.
I agree with M3 Adjuster that for current M2 owners the video part he referenced could backfire for BMW. Regardless of factual accuracy, it's a matter of respect.

So what do we got here:
  • the 1M featuring an upgraded N54 engine with a "Powered by BMW M" tag line;
  • the M2 oldskool featuring an upgraded N55 engine with a "Powered by ///M" tag line;
  • the new M2 kid with more muscles featuring a detuned S55 engine with a "BMW M Power" tag line.
Should Munich or Garching now consider the 1M and M2 rather /M than ///M, then let me say that I dig both those 'brothers from another mother'.

What's in a name? Who cares what they call it.
All that matters is the driving experience.

I've always said that I wouldn't care if my BMWs bore a Hyundai badge - I don't care about labels, badges, and brands - all I care about is the product.

I'm a bit disappointed in the color choices. Has anyone seen Ice Silver Metallic on a new WRX STI? I bet it is very close to that.

Seriously old school BMW M power.

Sorry for the inaccurate vehicle. It's an S14 from an E30 M3 (in an E90 chassis race car. )
