6MT - Gear Shift Indicator

I'll be the lone purple penguin here I guess. I leave the gear recommendation readout on and I use it. It's small and not in the way, so it's not a distraction. And it's not a demand, just a recommendation, and it has never been wrong and recommended a gear that has left the engine laboring. When we're having fun we ignore it, but otherwise it reminds me when I could be in a more efficient gear and saving gas and money. Every dollar saved adds up, to the next trip to Europe, the next set of tires, next M car, etc.

My JCW Cooper had this. It would show current gear and the up/down arrow would pop up at suggested time. Much more useful than what we have.

Turned that crap off first day. Saving gas?? I hope to burn up as many dinosaurs as possible with this car!!!!

Just remember this forum is full of whiners. It's a great function and can easily be ignored when I want.

The gear indicator is small, blends in, easy to ignore - never bothered me; however, the Efficient Dynamics thing is bigger, colorful and useless, so... I just turned it off & kept on rollin'.

Didn't know you could shut that off. Too bad it can't be changed to oil temp.
