The CS badge on the M3/M4 Comp carries a 45% premium. So you are looking at about ~$85,000 msrp for M2CS. No telling how much for new CSL badge. The GTS was pushing 100% premium at the time.

Now take into account the M4 Comp already has a carbon roof, carbon trunk, carbon driveshaft, etc. So essentially the carbon costs were already baked into the cost. Logically thinking one could conclude the M2 CS premium could be even more drastic, if it adds some of the Mperf carbon panels as standard.
All true, but I would coutner argue that on the M2 CS they only added a few thousand dollars for S55, M5 brakes and M3/M4 seats. The fact that the M2 is in a different segment, might suggest they will keep the mark up lower than on the M3/4
Very true, I was really surprised that the M2C in the UK 'only' a deed £3-5k it seems.

It's going to be an M2 CS after the production of the M4 CS stops in 2020.

I cannot confirm. But seeing that it is with the Competition. I will speculate and say there is a high probability.

I'm leaning towards DCT only. The M4 GTS and M3 CS are DCT only. I would love for this new M2 variant to have a manual option though.

If they really want to make it special; manual ONLY!!!

BMW M2 CSL

For those of us that missed the BMW 1M Train. I think the next sensible choice for a grade A collector M car would be the M2 CSL. I just can’t pay 55k for a out of warrenty BMW with current financing rates with 40kms or more on the clock. All previous CSL models have held their value great. Plus, buying new you get warranty, more favourable financing options, all paperwork, and can select the options. If it’s coming in a 6 speed and if a 1 year run, I think it’s a no brainer given how the GT4, GT3, and other limited runs have turned out well.

No doubt the M2 CSL will be great, assuming it actually arrives...and also assuming you have $95k to spend. It will definitely be over $90k. I really hope they make one but I'm sure it will be $$$. The problem with chasing the latest thing is that there's always a 'new' latest thing...

If you still want a 1M (which it seems like reading your post); you will always want one....at current prices it's still a great deal. I would suggest getting one if you're still in love. It won't disappoint you. I bought my 1M to keep and drive for a long time. Warranty doesn't mean much when there is a plan to keep something long term...mine is permanently off the market.

Car manufacturers absolutely hate collector cars because they only make money once and if the price goes up (because of limited edition etc) then the manufacturers don't get a single penny - it's all the private parties that make money.
That's the reason why Porsche will release a new GT4 - because they can no longer make money on the old one. Same goes for M2, M2C and M2CS, CSL.
1M was a one off car and will probably never happen again, unless bmw decides to lose money.

Also, if you are buying a collector cars for a fact that it will not depreciate then it's going to be the worst in terms of driving pleasure; you will constantly worry about raking up miles on the car and will eventually become a garage queen. Heck, even a garage queen car is worst in terms of return of investment - a decent index fund would yield much bettered returns.

My suggestion would be to stop chasing the csl moniker - buy a used M2, drive it's titties off and learn to become a better driver in process.

A work in progress Porsche 718 GT4 configurator went live accidentally in a European country with 981 GT4 pictures and colors but a 718 GT4 price.

The price on the new GT4 according to the configurator went from 89000 Euros to 108000 Euros. (Something I thought would never happen and it very well might not)

It very well could be that the price that leaked on that partial configurator is incorrect but if not, BMW has a lot of room to price their CSL/GTS.

Basically what I'm saying is: Go get an M2/Competition and start driving without waiting for these Halo cars.

Gatte is right. The 718 Cayman GT4 will be expensive and extremely hard to get an allocation. The M2 CS and CSL will be similar. I think my current budget may stretch to CS or CSL, not sure about the GT4.

+1

That's is what I do....drive my normal M2 everyday...all day as much as I can and don't give a crap about future value. Besides this; I invest my so called "collector cars" money in other non-car things. On the long run; this makes me more money and gives me more driving fun..without ever thinking "o no this is not good for the value of my car"

You could also buy a "used" 981 GT4 when the 718 GT4 is launched...prices will drop on this MK1 GT4 when the MK2 is introduced...

A lot hinges on what engine the 718 GT4 gets. If it’s a flat 6 turbo I’d imagine prices will be rock solid on the 981. If it gets a detuned GT3 4.0 or a full-fat GT3 engine then 981 owners might decide to chop in against the 718 and the OPC will happily sell you a used 981 when it tells you it hasn’t got a 718 allocation for you-so expect prices to still be strong. Win win for OPC and 981 owners. Unfortunately the Spyder sounds like it’s got a blower
