Imo, my 18 lbb manual will be worth 25k in 5 years and a 19 comp only slightly more, as long as miles are under 60k

You are incorrect.

In 5 years your 2018 M2 will be worth $100,000. The only problem is that a Big Mac will cost $500 in 2023.

But the 19 Comp owner will have been driving what has been reviewed to be a better car. So, in terms of enjoyment/experience to ownership cost, 2019 owners may be ahead of 2018s.

Awesome. I can't wait to get my butt kicked by a comp at the track too.

Well if that is your do focus, you can likely tune your car etc.

The thread is about pricing. I just personally think that you will have 2 cars which are very similar, and one has an S motor and the other doesn't. If it was the same motor and a better suspension, or diff, then I would agree with your assessment.

Caveat - I put my money where my mouth is. I had an M2 lined up for ED in April this year, and I even went to Munich for my vacation and rented a car with my friends. I canceled the plan to use my M2 once the 2019 rumors were out late last year. And now in September, I'm making a separate quick trip to pick up my 2019 M2 at additional cost and inconvenience. I think it's worth it, and will not end up costing me that much given total cost of ownership of 2019 vs 2018. Add in any additional enjoyment (real or otherwise), and I THINK for me, I will be ahead. Naturally, I can't predict the future. But just my best guess right now given everything I know and have read.

Everyone I spoke to about my M2 says my car will be the diamond in the rough. I bet those same people will say the opposite when they talk to an M2 comp owner. lol!

There was one like this at the dealer, 2 set of wheels with the lightweight black ones with cup 2's all carbon bits, MP coilovers etc etc.

The one I wanted was a dct mineral gray, leds + MP exhaust so the price was reasonable, other fact that aided was its basicaly sitting in the lot since January

All that performance and port added shit is designed to stay attached for about a year, from production. I guess you have another 4 or 5 months before it starts to fall off.

Not sure where to post this, so I apologize in advance.

So a dealer near me has a 2018 LCI M2 in the MG color way, has the Exec Package and comes with DCT. MSRP was 61-62k, but the price has dropped since.

I'm a first time buyer, but I've done a lot of research and decided to wait until around Novemberish to purchase my car. How much money off MSRP can I expect on this model, realistically?

Thanks!

one avid Twitter says there'll be 25% tariff on all EU cars so maybe M2 OG value will see second breath of life after all

If this 20-25% tariff Trump wants to impose on all EU cars happens. The M2C (2019+) is not going to be any kind of deal and the OG M2 will retain its value better.
