It does seem like there may be less burbles than before. I had BM3 installed before I took it in (flashed back to stock first) and I'm not really a fan of the burbles so it doesn't bother me.

There hasn't been a new DME update for the N55 M2 for a little while.... Those reporting burbles are less are probably getting used to the new ASD calibration which isn't as intrusive as well as the fact that it takes a bit for the DME to re adapt the fuel trims in order to get maximum burbles.
Do a few WOT pulls and you'll find the burbles come back to life

As for the asd- I coded it out ...both before and after update. The thought of the car having to 're-learn' did cross my mind as a probable cause however my car 'popped and cracked' the day I drove it off the lot... This morning I decided to drop in to the dealer to see what they would have to say about this and their response was of no surprise- 'a istep update would not be capable of causing this'. I'm booked in for early next week. What they suggested we do is compare my car with other M2's they have on their lot that have not been updated yet. Excellent idea. |

I had mine updated to the latest software 3 weeks ago. The pops and crackles are still there without a doubt! LCI DCT Model. On the latest software a lot of the modules are updated.

I wonder if there is a chance that pre-lci cars (mine) are affected differently with this update. On a side note, I asked if it's even possible to revert to a previous iteration of the istep and was told not possible because they don't have access to any 'old' versions. BMW downloads new versions to their servers as they become available and that is basically all that is available for upload to our vehicles. Sounds plausible. |

Maybe pre lci are, Im not sure. When the tech showed me the list of modules that were updated there was a list of at least 10 abbreviations showing what was updated. The dash, ASD, gearbox and bluetooth were some of them. |

Hrm... the only possibility is if the dealer didn't successfully update the process using ISTA+.
I to am on recent firmware and my car is a 2017 6MT pre-lci. gets tons of burbles and bangs.

One thing that could bolster your theory is the fact that I can no longer scroll the nav map using the touch pad. I was able to pre-update. It could turn out to be just a user setting but I've looked everywhere and can't find anywhere where i would turn this feature on. The touch pad still works if I want to spell letters however. Can anyone else on latest update (N180321 or any for that matter) confirm wether they have this functionality (ability to scroll map)? |

They shouldn't be disabling this for cars that don't have ID6 (touchscreen). ...and if they do decide to disable it, at least make it so You can turn it back on if You want to. Not possible with ID5. Maybe ID6 lite (interactive map)? |

6hr of software updates today including the cluster recall. Kind of interesting.. my experience:
- less urgency, car seems a little lazier in all profiles - exhaust overrun is almost inaudible, significantly reduced; total overrun time is probably halved. - ASD... almost gone essentially. Can barely hear it. Certainly not more power. edit: new version is N18092I more notes - data privacy includes many more check boxes now.. be sure to go into this menu. It now includes "driving behaviour and habits" as auto submit to BMW - Bluetooth seems more reliable and devices connect faster - Map is faster - comfort mode auto rev match is lazier: if you got used to it previously you will now need to be in Sport for rev match to be smooth - still no "disable auto rev match" option - comfort mode throttle sensitivity increased

This so pisses me off. BMW always does this crap. I made another post about it elsewhere, but I faced similar crap with my 135i.. First or second 'mandatory' software update totally killed the throttle response and it changed the character of the vehicle that I bought.. The only way to bring it back was to purchase the PPK which at least I got them to cooperate on. But seriously, when the basic character of the product we bought is changed, there should be hell to pay.

That being said, I've subsequently gotten a new update and it seems to be back to normal. And the way you describe it is 100%- it's not so much that the pops and crackles are quieter (It was a bit quieter) but rather they are short lived. As far as the power goes, I too thought it felt different but keep in mind the car has to relearn your driving manners (unless this does not apply to these cars). |
