Thunderstruck through the speakers
A friend was saying his young daughter liked the old AC/DC song thunderstruck so gave it a play today in my M2C with volume wound up it led to pretty awesome session. Not an audiophile but last song that seemed to fit so well was nessun dorma in a classic Range Rover. I will listen to any old junk

Nice!
I recently turned the volume up on Creedence Clearwater Revival’s version of ‘Heard It Through The Grapevine’... Ten minutes and 54 seconds of Louisiana bluesy rock shuffle, made cleaning the brake dust off my wheels enjoyable. Mmm hmm |

Sadly (or not), every time I turn on the tunes in the M2C, I turn them off after a minute because I rather hear the beast!! This must be the first car where the tunes dont matter |

I do prefer the noise from the engine/exhaust usually but this was just one of those right time and right place things. The song just seemed to make the best out the hk in M2C, doesn't do it for me in the X5m even with higher grade hk

I do love some of the best Brian Johnson AC/DC era tracks every now and then. One of my best drives was Sky Toccata. Try that one. Probably obscure to most people. Open window so exhaust adds to it. Bliss. |

If I’m flying straight and level down the highway or interstate, I’ll listen to the radio.
The rest of the time I like to hear the motorsports-like sounds this car make going up and down through the gears. I shift up and down through the gears as if it were a sequential transmission, just like all the motorcycles I’ve had over the years. I never just put it in neutral and coast to a stop. This car is fun to drive, but you know that. |

Tunes only come on when I'm cruising on the highway. Anything from Jazz to classic rock to thrash metal. Although none of that "pop country" stuff.
Otherwise it's listening to the music of the N55 exhaust as I rev and row through the gears. Makes me giddy like a school child. Glad y'all are enjoying your cars!

Don't be under any illusion they were all nice, some where rough as hell but I loved some of the rough ones too especially for fun. I've got 5 cars on the road at present, two motorbikes and 2 more bikes that could be. It's a passion and hobby I've had forever maybe I've overestimated, one day I'll do a list and stick it up!

Yes, the HK is horrible, but the S55 is better (not by a whole lot )

I will credit the HK in my 2018 for sounding very crisp. I wish it had a little more low end, but when I turn up the dial...which you have to do with all the noise the car makes ...the HK does not at all become distorted.

Was there a change I read about for later models? In my 06/2019 build I think the audio is really good. Maybe I've just got a poor ear for sound but it does sound better than my 17' X5 (the X5 has hk but with the equaliser and logic 7)
Yes I do usually enjoy the engine notes especially the X5 v8 but it was tipping with rain and had windows shut so stuck on some music and the song just hit the spot |

I don't love the audio in this car - I find it harsh, muddy, no real mid range. A lot of it could be down to the lack of sound deadening. Certainly the enhanced premium sound in my e90 M3 was significantly better.
I've got new speakers going in shortly which should help a lot, we shall see! Last edited by Montaver; 03-16-2020 at 05:24 PM.. |
