That is outstanding Marc! Thank you for posting this. It confirms the OPF’s need to go! Although well outside of my budget, it’s incredible how the S55 sound has been refined by Akrapovic compared to earlier F8X models.

MR,

Thanks for the comparison video. The Akra exhaust sounds great!

Have you measured the decibel level in Sport+ with valves fully open? I'm wanting to track my car when I get it delivered next year and many tracks in the UK won't let you on if you are over 100 dB.

Cheers,

Karl

Do the sound check in economy mode

Or just don't use sport+, it doesn't make the car any faster, just louder!

That is a fair point 😁

Any idea when this will be available in the UK and how much it will cost roughly? No rush as I don't get my car until April 😬

I prefer Sport+... but yeah you can remove those burbles and you have the exact same sound as Efficient.

Hello All,

Just thought i'd throw in my video now that i am allowed to, i have MR's car for a month to help sort him some more PPF and fit parts to his car.
having good connections around where i am it was easier for me to help him out.

Bonus of all this was i got to drive the car home! and on the way i did a short burst through a tunnel, please see the video attached.

In terms of my own thoughts on the Exhaust, its night and day compared to the stock exhaust, i do think the burbles are a bit much ( doesn't bother me too much ) they just seem a bit excessive sometimes but the overall driving experience is much better, i do still think the N55 M2 has more tone and a more interesting sound but this exhaust is miles better then the stock. Enjoy the video!.

Changing the exhaust has any impact in the BMW warranty and the emission standards for EU? keeping the OPF.

Also any idea when it's available?

And slip on means axle back plus keeping the OPF?

I will drop you a DM and we discuss more there.

I will drop you a DM and we discuss more there. Yes, it has an impact on your warranty, but only when you remove the OPF and have to install an ECU tune to disable the backpressure sensors.

Only installing a slip-on will not affect your BMW warranty (find me a dealer who is a dick about you doing a slip-on aftermarket system and I make him viral on the web). Emission standards is also not an issue either when you only install the Akrapovic slip-on since it is EC-Type approved and fully homologated.

The slip-on is the sweet spot for us Europeans to get a better exhaust note from the car and still be homologated within all regulations and also don't have any issues with your dealer.

I suggest any European to get themselves a slip-on system from any aftermarket exhaust manufacturer since BMW M Performance will not have their system available anytime soon.

Yes, axle means all is stock until after the mid damper after that you cut the two pipes and you slip on the new exhaust. This way you will keep the OPF and it will sound like the video file I made two weeks ago. That was with OPFs, stock mid pipe and only the back muffler replaced.

On the photo below you see the normal rear damper on the left, and the prototype Akrapovic slip-on line system on the right. As you can see it slips on the two pipes which are coming from the mid damper. You use clamps to attach it properly.

Slip-On/Axle back is the sweet spot for EU cars.
Get the Akrapovic Sound-kit or BimmerLink to be able to open the exhaust flaps manually.
Acutally that makes an huge difference as the org. flap control is kinda restrictive and flaps are closed pretty often (because of the new homologation process).

I would suggest to wait for the Akrapovic Slip On as the quality and sound is really awesome!

Awron display is also an option to control the flaps. Be aware that opening the flaps make it not homologated anymore

Are you ordering a Slip-On?

i had the chance to hear a prototype of the Slip-On.
Actually i really like it and i dont think many other companys are spending so much time and effort for the development process as Akrapovic.
