Update 12.16.2016 | The Group Buy has ended, but we’ve extended the pre-sale of the new wheels!

The Group Buy ended successfully with 80 participants which earned everyone $325 off + free shipping.

For anyone who missed out the Group Buy, you may still pre-order your set at a discount through the APEX site.
  • Orders placed in December will receive $200 off + free shipping
  • Orders placed in January will receive $150 off + free shipping
  • Orders placed in February will receive $100 off + free shipping
  • Orders placed in March will receive free shipping

Not all designs, sizes and finishes could be produced. To hit production minimums some people needed to be switched to their backup choices. Everyone who purchased a set should have received an email a few weeks ago specifying the final design/size/finish they will receive. Please contact us if you did not receive your final confirmation.

We broke our own rule of requiring 8 participants per size. On certain fitments we went ahead and produced them with fewer sets sold, but some had such low demand that we had to skip them. Below is a table showing exactly what will be coming in the first batch.

We're working on a large batch of on-car renderings. We'll be trickling them out over the next month.

In most cases we will render both designs and each wheel finish into a single photo creating a set. Different photo sets will show cars from different angles, distances, sceneries, but each set will be the same photo/angle. We do not have the bandwidth to take requests for various vehicle finishes and photos, but you're welcome to photoshop the images further.

These first 2 images are from a set that shows a side profile of an E46 M3 with FL-5 18x9.5" ET35 wheel installed. We should have Race Silver tomorrow.

Satin Black - view higher res

Here are a couple comparison shots of the multiple face profiles we offer in both the FL-5 design, as well as the SM-10. As you can see, we are still finalizing the SM-10 profile 1.

Here we have the Race Silver rendering on the same E46 M3. As a reminder, these are 18x9.5" ET35, with 275/35-18 Hankook RS-3 tires. We also mated them with a Brembo 6 piston 380mm BBK up front, and 4 piston 355mm BBK in the rear respectively. :thumbsup2:

Loving the FL-5!! Two questions, 1) What are the recommended offsets for a 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 fitment? 2) Do you guys foresee these ever being released in a 19" wheel? Thanks and amazing work!!

Thank you

We are kicking things off with the 18" diameter, as that is where we experience the most demand. Once the wheels are successfully released, we can gauge demand for 17" and 19" versions.

In regards to the M2, you would need an 18x10.5 ET3X for proper fitment under the rear fenders. Our current lineup does not include a 10.5" wheel with that high of an offset, so it would be something that we would have to consider adding pending demand.

I can live without 19" wheels but please come out with an 18x10.5 that is proper fitment for the M2

That would be a total deal breaker for me because I want to run a 295 rear

We appreciate the feedback! If we see receive enough demand for an 18x10.5 ET3X wheel, it make be something we consider in the future.

Thank you guys dor the quick responses! I know a 18x10.5 with an ET3x wheel isn't in the immediate release but what about an 18x10 ET3x.. Is there a list of 18" sizes and offsets that will be released for the FL-5

We recognize the M2 chassis could use an 18x10 ET33, as well as an 18x10.5" ET35 option for the rear. These sizes have already been recorded internally for possible production in the future, but it would be contingent on demand.

Historically the 1 and 2 series community has not shown enough day-to-day demand to allow us to stock their corresponding fitments on a consistent basis. Production minimums with our factory and the goal to deliver a quality product at an affordable price point prevent us from running small batches of wheels to match up with the relatively low demand we experience in comparison to other BMW chassis. We are still researching to see if the M2 community will follow suit, or if there will be enough demand to warrant consistent production.

With current M2 production figures, the best way to bring M2 fitments to market would be to leverage our Group Buy platform. The APEX Group Buy platform allows any community regardless of size to come together, pooling interest for a given product. If enough interest is generated to justify production, we have the ability to manufacture product quite quickly in response. The Group Buy platform traditionally rewards participants with a discount and free shipping for incentive

As you can see, community participation is key. We want to hear your about your pain points so-to-speak, so feel free to discuss in this thread!

Currently, we have quite a few options confirmed for production which will work for the front of the M2, some of which can also be used for square fitments:

18x9" ET31
18x9.5" ET35
18x9.5" ET22

Proposed new fitments for new design(s) pending community feedback/demand:

Front:
18x9" ET29

Rear:
18x10" ET33
18x10.5" ET35

Thank you so much Ryan, being in the finance industry I totally understand what you mean in regards to demand of the product to justify the cost of producing a given size. I wonder what would be required to make the 18x11 ET44 fit on the rear with a 295 tire. If not a 295 I would imagine an 18x11 ET44 on a 285 would be less work and be a more comfortable fit? I wouldn't mind trying either or

Good question, our 18x11" ET44 in comparison to the stock 19x10" ET40 rear wheels would extend by 9mm towards the rear fenders, and there would be 17mm less clearance towards the suspension / inner fender liners.

We have yet to properly test this fitment, but it does look promising on paper. 285/35-18, 295/35-18 and 305/35-18 would indeed be the tires to test. We will keep the community posted as we learn more.
