Solved: Traction control issue preventing acceleration at high speed

I haven't seen this covered in many threads but the issue is real.

Symptoms: TCS gets confused when going WOT at high speed (60+ MPH, 6th gear), thinks the rear wheels are slipping and starts cutting power.
This seems to affect older cars (mine is built 03/2017) and the problem gets worse with square tire setup (245/45/18 in my case).

Solution: update the DSC software (I went from 505 to 530). The updated software has much less intrusive stability control. Besides solving the above problem the car is way more fun to drive when DSC and TCS doesn't panic all the time.

Awesome, I used to have this problem in my 350Z after switching to a square setup. My solution was to switch off the traction control the minute i got in the car.

BMW FTW.

Took it to dealer. First I tried to convince them it was a TCS issue but they kept blaming my non-OEM tire setup.

So I brought it in second time and complained about iDrive issues.

Did you do anything about it? Were you also on a square setup?

Off topic: do your wheels rub with your 245/45/18 setup? It is quite a bit bigger on the front compare to stock 245/35/19. Most people run 245/40/18.

I'm not sure what version my software is on but I did end up coding the euro dsc settings as well as M4 gts mdm and have no complaints or traction issues. My car was manufactured 10/16.

Not OP but I ended up with a square set of winter tires in 245/45/18. They only rub in front when in reverse and and almost full steering lock. Even when they do rub it's a "gentle" rub

Typo, my tires are 245/40/18 on 18x9 ET30 wheels with 10mm spacers. No rubbing, mildly lowered.

Euro MDM will also take care of it, probably allows even more freedom but my updated North American software is wild enough for me.

The only other search hit I got was for someone with overinflated tires describing similar symptoms. When you go to the dealer I suggest not bothering with explaining the DSC troubles, just complain about the iDrive locking up and going blank intermittently. They will update the whole car. And if you are running older software you will notice a big difference in DSC plus slightly better steering feel, and with manual less boost loss when shifting.
