Because I currently need a replacement vehicle but if I had a Competition or CS, I would just hold on to it and be contented.

The current M2C/S looks good, has a lot of headroom for more power + handling and I know with staggering inflation and scarce raw material supplies, the G87 is going to be one budget-wrecking proposition, for the cost of entry..

Gone are the days of the 52K MSRP M2.. 😞 Good times..

Here in the UK, I spec'd the new m240i on the configurator and it came to the same price as my m2c when it was new... inflation be a b****

Poochie sums it up nicely. These things were kinda new car bargains at one point if you squinted. Those days are done and the new design doesn’t speak to me like the F87 does.

Yes, because I love my M2C and would love a last ICE (and MT) car in a few years that will likely be a better performer in 4 years or so. Im sure the looks wont be bad (see difference between f22 and F87 looks)

I am under 15,000 miles on my M2. Too few miles to consider a new car. Plus I love driving my M2. Though COVID has slowed down my mileage.

To much up in the air right now. I have to see it, drive it and price it out. All those factors play into a yes no answer. Yes the last MT pure ICE M is a very definite draw.

I just see them offering more features like the carbon roof and adaptive suspension and so on. So with the choice of way more options then the F87 I see the price getting past $70K easily. That is a big hmmmmm at that point.

I for one think the new 240i looks miles better than the last gen 240i but still think the last gen is a beautiful car.

For me
-more size
-more tech
-better interior
-would imagine it rides better
-S58 (more reliable & more power with a tune)
-better handling (from what I imagine)

I'm hoping it comes with the xDrive so fingers crossed!

Also no knock against any of the fellow OG M2 owners like myself or the comp owners. People tend to think because you like or think one car is better than another, then the other car immediately sucks or something like that.

Comp M2 is a brilliant car that's worth holding onto. OG is still great as well and a fun daily.

Nope, design wise It's a no go for me, digital dash is not to my taste (but that would not be an absolute blocker) and size-wise F87 is perfect - I don't want a bigger package
That and new cars in Europe from 2022 on will get imposed "features" I don't want (speed limit enforcement by GPS, driving parameters recorder that insurance companies can access and use remotely...)

I tend to choose carefully and keep my cars a long time (10 years), F87c I'll probably keep 20 or so, I see it being potentially my last/ultimate ICE car, given the regulations (only a 991.2/992 would top up the list, but not for the money they’re going for currently - and 992 is kind of already too big)

No. Because I ordered a Lotus Emira 6MT instead.

I want to try a car that has the same power level of my M2C but weighs about 500 pounds lighter.

I'm undecided, but leaning towards no at the moment. When I bought the M2C, I was already in the mindset that my next car was going to be an EV (with some exceptions). If the next M2 is worth serious consideration to upgrade to, then I'll consider it. But it's going to have to be seriously good because I've been really enjoying the current car.

Are you planning on getting it with the modified 'yota V6 or the merc 4 banger? Hope you're still around this forum when you get it, would like to hear about your overall experience. I'm really interested in the Emira as well, but my gut tells me it'll be sold out for some time and heavily marked up which is why I'm not holding my breath.

I state to my dealer every time I speak with them that I'd like their first allocation (they're not yet taking deposits).

I've owned a couple of G82s and a G42 and I'm convinced. The G87 is going to be a big step up. Much better chassis, much better power delivery, 6MT still in the mix. Gimme.

I'll be keen to hear your future experience with the Lotus Emira, I'm considering the Emira 6MT in green as a replacement for my M2C.

While I don't mind the new design, and even kind of dig it…the G87 ain't for me.

I spent considerable amount of time and $ on upgrades [full PPF (not an upgrade per se) AA EL, Dinan axleback]. NOT to keep my M2C. Now it's just the way I like it…well, almost, once I get the AutoSolutions SSK installed (Ronald is building mine, I'm up in the current build as he produces batches at a time) and some Richland Forged rims + MP4S shoes…it will be!

Seriously, even without the stuff I already added to it, it's still the perfect car (for me). Do I secretly wish for a Neunfer? Sure, but given the $ (w/o hyper inflation crapiola), upgradable bhp, daily usability, bang-on symmetry + looks - the M2C is still a winner for most!

No xdrive and only the exterior is bigger. Same trunk space, less headroom in the back than previous gen. More shoulder room up front though if that's what you need.

I'm willing to take a look at one. I contacted a few local dealers.
The reason is, well, why not? I don't know if the good outweighs the bad.
I like that the there will undoubtedly be more colors to choose from, more power and probably better grip. However, I hate that the brakes on the car are a major downgrade and that it will probably weigh more and have a longer wheelbase.
Looks wise, I don't really know until they release images. Or better yet, we can see one in real life. God only knows you don't want a major case of FOMO.

I leased a VW Jetta VR6 when production moved to Mexico. I've never had as many troubles with any other car prior or since. Until I read that they don't have QC issues it's a hard pass for me.

There are plenty to BMW "purists" who prayed to the car gods that their BMWs would not get produced in the South Africa plant. Of course my first BMW (21 years ago) did, and I was told to abandon ship, cancel, etc. It was the most reliable car I ever owned, and sold me on BMWs for the rest of my life. Just because your VW was a bum has no bearing on BMWs quality control or the fate of the new 2 series.

@akkando I'm still somewhat hopefully they'll do the xDrive in year 2, or at some point in the future. If there isn't any sign of it by year 3 I'll definitely move towards the 3/5 instead as my daily driver replacement.

The rear head room never concerned me since I don't put passengers back there, but a little more wiggle room up front wouldn't be the worst thing ever. It depends on how it feels once you're inside the car (driver ergonomics).

Also, I'm not sure if they needed to increase the space on the inside or the length/width of the dash to fit the HUD but I'm happy the 2 series is stepping up in tech.

HUD, carbon roof standard, adaptable suspension, and the same interior A-Z as the M4 is the love we needed. Now we just need that xDrive!! I hope BMW doesn't hold back on us.

I'm probably not the target audience for this poll. I've had my M2 for two months. I'm enjoying it immensely and not looking to move up to a new G87 anytime soon.

One main reason (other than financial) that I went with a used F87 though, instead of waiting for the G87, is size. I drive my 7 and 10 year olds around in the back seat now. In eight years they'll be 15 and 18. I'll need all the headroom I can get back there. And the current F87 body *juuuust* fits in our small 1959-era garage alongside my wife's Subaru Forester XT. Anything larger would be a tough fit.
