Sounds fishy to me. The RS4's engine has a rediculously high compression ratio iirc. That wouldn't respond so well to FI so it would be kind of a waste especially if it's only a 30hp increase. Sure extra torque is nice, but who cares when torque is meaningless. Torque is the path to more horsepower, not a number that matters.

Yeah..450 bhp...over 500 ft lbs of torque...and then hopefully someone like GIAC will come out with a chip moving those numbers up a tad..lets see ....8000 rpm redline...say with 480-520 bhp...and maybe 550 to 600 ft lbs torque (thinking liberally) Yeow - za.

i saw a RQ7 in palo alto downtown (rich side--not east)... it looked so bad from the back... i'm sure the traditional front grill was cool tho...

I seen this article about the new RS5 yesterday, I'm not too sure though, I dont always trust Car Magazine, remember they thought the E92 M3 would have the plate on the rear bumper? I dunno but I'm sure the RS5 will be a beast! I'm sure Audi wouldnt release just any crap, especially now that they know about the 420hp E92 M3. But I do think these chops of the new RS5 are quite accurate but you never know, the RS5 is based on the next gen A4 so it could be styled quite differently from the current RS4, I must say these chops look amazing though !

I'm with you. Torque is nice, but HP is where its at IMO. Especially if you are talking about a sports or sporty car.

Yea I agree, the RS4 rims are beautiful, not sure what Audi was thinking with these, but that thing looks insane. Especially from the rear

I dont totally agree with that. I mean if thats the case, then why arent everyone drivng acuras. I mean thats what Honda and Acura specialize their v-tec engines off of. Higher HP than torque. Now look at the 335i, the reason why everyone thinks the car can beat the previous M3 is beacuse of the vast amount of torque increase. I think the RS5 is gonna rock if it has the specs that this thread is saying.
Just my .02 cents.

that is going to be one bad-ass mo-fo when it comes out. i can already see youtube videos titled "M3 vs RS5."

i'd totally get it. but i think M3 styling is a bit more tasteful. that audi power combined with AWD will be something though.

Notice that the M5's engine has 500hp and under 400 torque. Same deal with the RS4, much lower torque than hp. Ferrari and Lamborghini are the same.

Audi has been outdoing M for a while now, at least when it comes to the RS4 versus the existing M3. Of course, we all expect the new M3 to set things right, even if it has equal not greater power because of its better weight distribution and lower overall weight. But if the RS5 info is accurate and the car is not priced at $80,000+, then IMHO M3 will look WEAK.

But you have to remember that the S4 is supposed to be the M3 competitor but it failed miserably. The RS4 is more like an M3 CSL competitor because it costs so much more than the M3 whereas the S4 costs about the same as the M3.

Now, the 335 is the S4 competitor. The M3 is the top dog and must be compared against the Audi top dog, putting aside a very limited production CSL.

Also, I can buy an RS4 in the US. Since the CSL likely will not be available here, it is irrelevant to me. The comparison remains M3 v RS4 for me.

"up to the 450bhp. That’s not a great deal more than the S5’s 354bhp,"

LOL i love how they say that 100hp is not a "great deal more"
