Curious if the s55 tune in CS is for reliability? The GTS included a water injection system and tuned to 500hp. I assume the water injection system is to reliably run lap after lap with stock tune.

Lots of folks tune their S55s, but how reliable are these motors for track use when you start adding tunes alone?

I have no intention of tuning the CS, but wonder if the GTS setup by BMW is approaching the safe limit? Or is a 500hp s55 without water injection safe and reliable. I understand that most are not tracking their cars so they rarely see extended time at these increased power levels.

While I personally don’t believe I’ve seen Misano Blue in person, I think it looks killer in all of the photos I’ve seen of it. Mixed with black wheels, red calipers and CF bits, I think it’ll easily be the best color combo.

If you like Porsche Miami Blue, you may like BMW Misano Blue too.

Personally, I might like those colors as wall paint or wall paper of a toddler's room, but not on my car. Different strokes for different folks.

I actually found it to be a lot "lighter" than Miami blue, but then again we were in a dark room with colored lighting.
I noticed that the color was actually metallic, wasn't expecting that from the pictures I had found on the net.

I saw Misano Blue on an X2 yesterday in traffic.. I have to say, I didn't like it at all. 👎🏻

Best way to describe It is bright 'Smurf' blue and certainly doesn't look exotic, in any stretch, like I had expected.

It's definitely an acquired taste and doesn't match the M2/CS profile. Hockenheim silver is the signature color for the M2/M2CS, although I would still stick to BSM because that's my jam...

I still think that LBB is the M2/M2C signature color.

Compare the blue color tone of MBM with the one of the Bavarian blue color of the BMW logo under different lighting conditions.

Bavarian flag (origin of the BMW logo colors):

I dig it.
It is blue, no doubt about it.
Is it my favorite Bimmer blue? No, that’d be LeMans blue I had on my ‘10 135i.

I saw a dirty Z4 in the Misano Blue this weekend and was not impressed.

Not sure how it will look on the M2 - we shall see.

I've been bored. This slow motioned strip tease has turned into a snoooooooooze fest.

It's not like BMW is doing something radical here...the formula is pretty well known at this point.

Hopefully the price is revealed next month in addition to the car. I would expect $85-$90k base.

Especially when reading the review on the x3m and how much better the s58 is vs s55.

He he..

I'm not delusional but It's a limited-production alpha M2, it's the closest to exotic as we're going to get in this model.

I would like a more unique color, like what Valencia Orange did for the 1M. That's all.

What article is this Dave? I read that the X3M competition has turbo lag and doesn't seem fast off of the line in the X3M section.

As long as the CS base is lower than base GT4 and base 911, it should be a good buy. Used cars are not for everyone and are risky.

Here we go, this section of it covers both our comments.

The engine is a masterpiece, though. It’s miles ahead of the S55 engine that powered the F80 M3 and continues to power the M2 Competition. It delivers its ample power with a silky smoothness that the M2 Comp wishes it had. On top of that, it makes a great noise, one that’s significantly improved over the previous S55. But the most impressive part of all of it is the forward thrust it delivers.

While the BMW X3 M can be a bit hesitant off the line, I suspect that to be tuning related and intentional. However, once it’s in its very healthy mid-range, it delivers a supercar-like punch that seems almost frightening in something as big and tall as an X3. Gearshifts are also dual-clutch-quick, without being harsh or unrefined. However, leaving in it sport automatic mode is best-suited for the X3 M, as it’s always in the right gear and is never caught flat-footed

I've inspected MB pretty closely. At first I didn't love it. But it is growing on me, and believe it will look great on the CS

S58 should be great in the next generation M2 but that is not until 2023. Then we have to wait for next generation's limited edition models, etc.

Agreed, and weight goes up, etc. I think the s58 vs s55 is a bit exaggerated. There's plenty that can be done with the s55 if the end user desires. You want an M2C with 1000hp. Not a problem with the s55. I just don't see the benefits of the s58 in the next gen offsetting the weight. Heavy cars can be very quick on track. Heavy cars in DD environment are less fun. Pick your poison.

M2C guys are sitting in a pretty nice spot.
