Mesh grill inserts/protectors?
Does anyone make some sort of mesh grille inserts to protect the radiator & other coolers from rock damage over time? I know I have seen this sort of thing (looks like chicken wire) on other vehicles.

If your M2C is going to see track duty, this is basically going to be a requirement. Those grille openings are huge and begging for a pebble to fly through at 120mph. I put mesh on my E46 after I had to replace a radiator trackside, and its (factory grille/mesh) openings were much smaller than the M2C's are.

I would definitely buy a mesh guard for your intercooler and radiator, even if you don't track your car. They're cheap and they can save you from a costly repair. Better safe than sorry!

I made my own out of mesh sheets and pop rivets for my race car, but you'd probably want something a bit more polished for a car like an M2.

I just bought some aluminium mesh on ebay for not very much, then trimmed it to fit and attached with small zip ties from the back.
I don't have photos to hand, but here is my instagram post about it: https://www.instagram.com/p/BwtkxW-DuI7/ |

This car sees a lot of track duty and the lower cooling fins were trashed so after puttting in my new FMIC I did this DIY project with stainless mesh. |

That's good good to hear about cooling. I did something similar on my STI but did it the first month I got the car so I couldn't gather any before and after data. Looks like I'll have a project as soon as my M2C arrives. |

I think BMW dropped the ball on this....a less open grill mesh would have been a better design....especially in a car that was promoted as track ready. Can you image what the OEM coolers looked like on the factory car after testing on the Ring!
