OEM PPF Question
Looking for some advice on how to handle the OEM PPF on the rear wheel arches. I just picked up a 2017 OG M2 in September and the OEM film is still applied. It is yellowing quite badly, and I think it is probably best to remove it at this point.
Any recommendations? Will the hair dryer method do the trick? Have most of you removed the factory film as well by now? I am just worried about damaging the paint upon removal since it has been on the car for ~6-7 years. Apologies if this topic has been discussed previously - tried searching for it but only found threads on applying new PPF. |

In because mine isn’t yellow but it’s time has come and gone. Curious what getting this handled is going to cost.
Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC fame uses near boiling water onto a towel to get/keep heat into the wrap/PPF during removal and it seems to be more effective than just ripping, or even using a heat gun. |

Heat it up and peel it off. Heat up a corner enough to get it started, then keep the hair dryer about 2" away as you slowly peel it back. I don't think you'll have any issues with the paint as it is quite hard and durable on the M2.

That was going to be my method, but I just got a bit nervous with the possible paint damage. Appreciate the guidance.

Here is where you can get some if you want to apply yourself: https://innovativepaintprotectionsol...ction-film-kit
Frankly, I would just take it to a shop and advise them to just create a bigger piece. Looks cleaner and provides more coverage, plus the install will probably look cleaner. |
