APEX | F87 18” Showcase - Forged and Flow Formed 18” APEX wheels

When David’s M2 was submitted to our photoshoot volunteer form, we knew it was the perfect platform upon which to showcase multiple 18” fitments. Though the calipers are refinished in a classy red, the OG M2 standard brakes let this car easily run 18s for those looking to reduce rotational mass and tire cost while also increasing tire sidewall height and ride comfort. 18” tires also give you access to some of the best tire sizes in terms of model availability, something many of our customers love. We opted to shoot 2 different designs on the car with an aggressive track setup on our 18” SM-10RS wheels and a more reserved fitment in our F87-specific staggered Flow Formed EC-7 fitment.

Our SM-10RS is an ultralight fully forged version of our already popular SM-10 design. We’re a function-over-form brand, so we took our time and engineered this wheel to be our best. The original SM-10 has been re-engineered with thinner spokes and extra-deep side-milling for maximum weight reduction. This contributes to a Goldilocks combination of light weight and stiffness in the end wheel with very little weight penalty relative to our already ultralight VS-5RS.

For those interested in picking up a set of our new SM-10RS wheels or our other Sprint Line designs, head over to one of our ongoing APEX Group Buys
.
Specifications

SM-10RS weights:

Size Weight (lbs)

18x10" ET25 18.6

18x11" ET44 19.4

VS-5RS Comparison:

18x10" ET25 18.5

18x11" ET44 19.2

Wheels & Tires:
Anthracite SM-10RS
Front: 18x10" ET25 with 275/35-18
Rear: 18x11" ET44 with 305/35-18

A Direct Fit Solution:
18” EC-7s Purpose-Built For Your M2

While the aggressive track-spec set showcased above looks fantastic, we also wanted to showcase our recently produced M2 specific fitment. Our FL-5 design kicked off 18” support on the flow formed side of things, but we wanted to bring the 18x9.5 ET28 and 18x10.5 ET40 offsets designed specifically for the F87 to another Flow Formed design in our range at an even lower price point than the FL-5.

The massive brake clearances of the EC-7 made them a great choice for these offsets and this setup is also available in our forged VS-5RS design for those looking for an 18” forged OE option. The offsets are designed with the OE suspension in mind and work great out of the box giving enthusiasts the ability to run much wider tires with no changes to their suspension configuration required.

NaOH228i would want me to mention that the 18x9.5 ET28 is also a great square setup option for OG owners looking to rotate their tires between the front and rear axles without spacers, camber or aftermarket control arms.

Wheels & Tires:
Race Silver EC-7s
Front: 18x9.5" ET28 with 265/35-18
Rear: 18x10.5" ET40 with 285/35-18

A huge thanks goes to our volunteer David. Thank you for sacrificing your time and letting us shoot your beautiful M2. I’d also like to shout out the entire APEX marketing team for this shoot in particular. It was a wet one as you may have noticed but they still got some amazing video and photo content for us. I love the way both sets of wheels look on this M2.

Would it be possible to get at least one of the options in a 18” x 10” ET40 for the autocross guys? For street class you must be within + or -7 mm of factory specs.

HELL YES.

Perfect spec. The wheels, the ride height, the slight bulge on the tires.

This screams TRACK RAT.

These wheels are a testament to an dated but timeless expression: truth in engineering. All copyrights acknowledged and respected. Dieselgate did tarnish the expression unfortunately.

SM-10RS are beautifully engineered. What a clean uncluttered, super strong design. Expect to be seeing them on track and street very soon!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I'm glad you're as excited about these wheels as we are!

Yes, this is actually a wheel I've been interested in making for a while. I think the VS-5RS makes the most sense at least for the initial release from a design and overall sales standpoint as it would also be used square on some HPDE M2s not limited by street rules and F30 3 series (rear only) as well. An SM-10RS might make sense as well if it proves to be popular enough as it's going to be a much stiffer wheel.

It's not going to be available during this group buy as we need to get it through engineering, but I'll be posting about it here on the forums and our site when we do make it.

Will the 18's fit over the red CS calipers. As it is it's an extremely close clearance with the 19's

I believe the red M2 CS 6 piston calipers are identical dimensionally to the 2NH grey 6 piston calipers/rotors. They require 19" wheels.
