Auto-God: thank you!
Now BMW, in your infinite automotive wisdom, can you 1) make the stripped model under $50K, and 2) no production limits? Please??

I prefer having the hood line extend all the way to the end below the BMW roundel. On darker colors it doesn't bother me as much, but even on the new Austin Yellow and Yas Marina Blue it's noticeable.

Since the M2 won't be a limited production and you'll see several years of this model, expect to see a "competition package" or something of the like with lots of BMW Individual options.

Remember, E92 M3 came out in 2007 and the ZCP Competition Package debuted in 2011, 4 years later.

Might be worth waiting a few years after the M2 hits production if you can

They test guys got lazy and forgot to put camo over the Roundel. Now the secret is out that that thing is a BMW!

It will be neat to see if this car gets the hood bulge like the M3.... I hope the 2er gets 4 doors as well, this thing would be hot as a M2 GC.
They did make it to production. They are the F8X 19inch winter wheel option. Unfortunately they are 19x9 both front and rear, rather than 19x9f and 19x10r. Make sense for a winter wheel where you want a thinner tire to cut through snow but I think this design is better than the 19in they launched on the F8X. It also looks lighter imo.

After my M3 that is currently on order, this will definitely be my next M car. It is going to sell like hotcakes and really seems like it's going to be the epitome of what the moniker, "ultimate driving machine" was originally built upon. Relatively light, excellent weight distribution, high revving (hopefully), and capable of getting you to and from the track, while stopping at the grocery store on the way back. The past is clearly important to utilize as reference and provides a blueprint, but hardly representative of the future why with global energy changes and industrial/efficiency requirements and regulations. It is truly remarkable what leaps and bounds BMW has been able to make in regard to working within these parameters/requirements, and provides a bit of insight as to what BMWs M division is capable of.
I feel this is a terrific time for us automotive enthusiasts as the game is clearly changing, yet it is ultimately to our benefit, and something extremely exciting to be a part of

Except that the M2 is coming out mid-life cycle of the 2-series where as the E92 M3 came out early in the E92s lifecycle

I hope it gets a CF roof as well. For me, that would really seal the deal in the looks department, and I'd seriously consider buying one.

I have a bad feeling, though, that the CF roof will be intentionally omitted to maintain the "premium" look of the more expensive M3/M4. That's just my personal fear though; I continue to hope for the best.

48-49k is pushing it. This car will be around 53,000 US dollars base. In either case I'm glad it's coming, this car may very well sway me away from the 981 Cayman s.

Not sure how you could pick the Cayman S over this. The M2 will almost certainly have better performance and cost at least $10K less.

No whining in this topic about turbo charging, or the lack of a proper S engine?

The prototype cars are just using the M235i Racing velcro'd on fenders for now. Later on, we will see the M2's real metal flared wheel arches.

Doesn't M135i have a turbocharged engine and lack a "proper S engine" too?

Single worst thing about the new design language!!!! I can't stand it but it looks like it won't be getting fixed. More savings for the d-bags that designed this atrocious hood in the 1st place.

Try $15K-$20K less. Look at the 2016 Cayman that is being developed. You'll understand why it will be so much more expensive. Porsche will let the Cayman finally have better performance numbers than the 911 by charging more for it

I heard both and there was a bit of difference in favor of 1M, certainly nothing "sooooooo" much different.

I think you were dreaming.
not dreaming...the 1M is my next car but I do wish it sounded more like the 135is.

I don't think you've heard both then....there is a guy on here who owns both and says the same thing. the 135is has a very distinctive and wonderful sound...

I agree, there probably will not be a competition package on the M2.The only real change in the model years will be the LCI,which will depend on when they do the LCI on the 2 series.

There also most likely will not be any individual options for the M2,especially the paint, because SCOTT26 already said that the Leipzig plant, where the 2 series is made,is not able to do individual paint.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm hoping it's the former. It seems like it would have to be for visual differentiation between the M2 and the M235i racing.

Either way, I'm more excited about this car than ever. Keep the updates coming!

Edit: I didn't read the whole thread and missed Dackelone's post addressing the issue. Glad to know it will indeed have flares similar to the 1M.
