May be off-topic. Is this software manipulation also done for 6MT? In other words, can one expect any change in performance after 1200 mile service? Not sure anyone on these forums has definitively stated improved performance post breakin. Responses seem to be mixed which is what leads me to wonder if the 6MT, without launch control option, has any software restrictions in place during breakin period?

Is it a huge change in performance? No. Is it noticeable enough to make a difference? Absolutely. |

I wish. People don't realise how easy it is for people to connect info they assume is not identifying to them. I have seen several users talk too much about their mod related problems on forums and get caught out by their dealer.
If I were the OP, I'd delete the thread I linked to in my previous post before taking the car in as well, considering it's basically a timeline of stupidity where OP ignores gentle suggestions from tuners and other posters to get a tune to go with their DP. Apparently when you buy a $50,000 plus car, a $300 tune is a bridge too fucking far. I mean honestly, you should go read it. The only thing protecting this guy from the financial sodomising of his life is a $50 part he bought from a website that looks like it was built in 1998. I need to stop before I die laughing. Jesus OP, straight up follow my advice, for your own good. |

^^ LOL! Okay Mr. ilovewagons, I was able to make an appointment for this morning at the dealership. And I will be honest and upfront about the whole thing once they tell me what's going on. Then we'll see if there is a valid reason for your negativity.

no you won't. You're going to take my advice and pretend like you didn't online, praying that the dealer doesn't find out the truth. Honest and upfront my ass.

Your ECU does not "KNOW" you are catless. It throws a catalyst plausibility fault and that's it.
With that mileage it's unlikely you have fouled plugs, even more so since you are not running a tune. Being West Texas I bet it's crap gasoline. 91 Octane, 10-15% ethanol. |

I still think it's got to be diff/trans related. I feel like an issue with the engine would throw a CEL. But I've only been driving BMW for less than 2 years, they do have some quirks. |

Just got the call. Apparently my rear o2 sensor failed. They seem to think it's normal and they want to replace it for me tomorrow once they get the new part in. In all the cars I've owned, ironically it's always the bone stock ones with o2 sensor failure. But I think I will be removing my downpipe just to be safe in the future.

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you, that a factory component directly next to your modification was the culprit.

Me too! LOL every other car I've owned or worked on would have thrown a CEL for something like this, not a Drivetrain Malfunction or Limp Mode. Thank you for brightening my day with your sarcasm.

Happy to hear it was something simple, had a feeling it would be. I think its smart to drop the mod and go back to stock. Its a great car as it comes out of the box, drove the hell out of one for a couple of days at M school last week it doesn't really lack for performance at all.

It's also a far cry from the $49650 340 xdrive GT at the top of the lineup. |
