Unhappy HELP | Weird front axle noise when driving slowly and turning (video)

Here's a quick video of the noise, it happens when the car is moving forward or backwards very slowly with the steering wheel moderately to fully turned.

The noise started happening a while ago but seems to have gotten worse, some days it's not noticeable while other days it's very obvious. I tuned the car very recently so taking it to BMW is probably not an option as the warranty would be void for any drive train stuff.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

From the bad wheel bearing videos I've seen on youtube, it sounds quite different. Hoping somebody with an M2 has had a similar problem

If you've had any front suspension work done (springs/struts/top hats) it could be the top mount bearing binding or the sprint not properly seated in the bearing, alternatively could be the strut pinch bolt installed incorrectly (must be installed with bolt head facing forward & nut goes on from rear), not torqued correctly or maybe even re-used (it's a single use bolt).

If front suspension is all stock think I've read of another known issue with front strut/hub noise where there is dealer fix, maybe someone else can help with this or you'll have to do a search of the forum.

Haven't done any suspension mods at all, was planning on doing springs pretty soon but probably will hold off for the time being.

So the issue is from between the shock absorber and bearing housing? Was your noise the same as mine from the video?

Yes, same noise. You get it if dry steering or going over bumps under 30mph yeah? Or normal low speed steering too. Not influenced by braking. Sounds like a metallic creaking sound. It'll just be a loosened.

Funny how multiple threads now cropping up as our cars age together...!

Yup, metal creaking is exactly how I would describe it!
