After market exhaust choices

Folks I was looking to upgrade the exhaust for M2C, came across this video

I was thinking of doing AA midpipe, but liked the deep sound of AFE as well, not looking for a very expensive option either.

Has anyone any experience with AFE exhaust.

How much usually does it cost to do midpipes or changing the whole exhaust.

Thanks for your input.

Has anyone tried AFE exhaust? Thinking between AA midpipe alone vs dinan vs AFE given my budget for exhaust.
Thanks for your input.

i'm curious if the AA midpipe also works with the Dinan exhaust. I think it should but i would love to hear it paired up. I was thinking of getting the Dinan exhaust myself but pairing it with the midpipe for more low growl.

Thank you for sharing our video

Top 3 in my opinion, REMUS, Active Autowerke and Dinan

I still love my Remus/AA mid combo. Sure, it's loud but I think it's absolutely the best looking option alongside akra. Absolutely nothing hangs below the CF diffuser. I didn't have a commute pre-covid so I like driving to be an experience that hits all the senses. The cold start, burbles, and loud pops during shifts make me giggle every time. I'll take some pictures and try and take a good video after a wash today.

There's a video on Active Autowerkes instagram with in-car and audio footage of their new equal length (EL) exhaust on an F82 that sounds righteous! I reached out to them the other day through the "contact" link on their website to enquire if/when they may be producing this for the M2 Comp, but haven't heard back... If it were going to be sometime this summer or early fall, I'd be inclined to hold off on an exhaust purchase until then bc it really seems to sound much better than anything else I've heard, including the Milltek EL exhaust. If not, the Dinan option being full cat-back seems really nice at a great price! I feel like a lot of people on this forum are anti-Dinan for whatever reason. Having visited the APR/Dinan facility in Alabama, I feel like they are a really top notch engineering firm

Akra-Evo best quality, perfect fit and serious drop in weight. Deletes secondary cats...but it's not cheap. Plus there is a noticeable difference in power.

The car in that video with the Active Autowerke setup is mine. Didn't know my footage had been used for that video..

This is the video of the Active setup with stock downpipes:

This is with added catless downpipes:

What's the new EQ exhaust by AA? What different should it be from their current one? Thanks

Yep, Looks like it's in the works!

Here's the in-car video I referred to before. M3 though, not M4. Makes no difference...

cannot go wrong with the AA Mid + Remus Race or Sport.
it can be quiet in Efficient Mode. in Sport+ Mode, it is mild/moderate during cruising. it only really gets loud when you really step on it or during initial cold starts but then settles.

Just wanted to point out that the Dinan exhaust is not really a full catback in the traditional sense

It still retains the secondary cats and requires cutting the stock exhaust system

@ BAN-M2C your exhaust sounds great and loud. However it looks like full AA exhaust with catless downpipes.

Do you have a clip of pure AA exhaust sound (CAT back) portion.

Also is there any meaningful hp and tq gains with AA exhaust.

Thanks

First video in that list I sent you it had OEM cats on.

I never did a before and after dyno to confirm power gains if any.

Active Autowerke can confirm if they have any figures they have.

Can you post a startup video and a few others of your set up? Is it "annoy the neighbors" loud?

The cold start is loud, but you can code that out. and TBH the cold start was already kinda loud so your neighbors will only be marginally more irritated. once warmed up it's very quiet with valves closed. suprisingly quiet actually.

I'll get a cold start video today or tomorrow. The first time I heard my new cold start, it definitely caught me off guard. The dealership brought it around already warmed up so my first impression of the exhaust was on my drive home. It's definitely very loud. I won't lie to you. I'm just used to it and I've had it for almost a year now with no neighbor complaints. So I guess they are used to it too.

The "oh shit" volume is maybe for 30 seconds and then it settles down fully at maybe 2 minutes. Then, I do drive out of my neighborhood in closed flaps, efficient (hunt for red October) mode.
