Anyone else surprised how much they like their M2C?
A self confessed car addict who tires of cars with unhealthy rapidity, I bought the M2C because it was the best I could find, but not what I really wanted.
I was "meh" after 2 test drives and coming from an m240I, I was like "it's not gonna be that much different." But i bought it anyways because I've already done the porsche thing and there was nothing else out there in manual that appealed. But I have to say that after 2 months and even pre-break in, I love this car. I look forward to every drive and can't wait to drive it again after I get home. I didn't expect to like it this much at all. it truly is a very fun driver's car and you know what in sport plus, it actually sounds good (at least inside the car). It feeds my passion for cars in a way that the m240i never did, I look back at it, it is much more engaging and eager. In a nutshell it brings lots of smiles per mile. anyone else kinda go in "meh" with the M2C and come out like wow I wasn't expecting this much fun? |

Not for me. Just starting the car for the test drive I knew this is the cars I wanted. Did one 3-5k pull and the deal was sealed.

My thoughts exactly. I look forward to every drive, and find every excuse to drive. I still love how sexy this car looks, and how amazingly well put together the whole package is. I wasn't sure if the baby M was the right M for me (I mean I should be driving bigger, more expensive, more showy car, right?), but damn my gut was right, as it usually is. Its everything I wanted/expected. Makes me very happy on a daily basis

I love the M2C. I seem to connect with it like my earlier 911’s. I am pretty good at spotting a rising star. All the right formula in the right place in time has the M2C in a unique and enviable position. Price point has nothing to do with this “X” factor that spreads street credit like wild fire.

Well I hope you guys are right! Im picking mine up tomorrow. I have a GT3 and GT3 RS and was looking to replace my DD. Thought I would buy an M5. I liked the car, but not the price for a DD. I then drove the M2, M3, and M4 and the M2 was a clear winner. It was bigger than I thought and the trunk space was bigger than the M4. I never thought I would get back to BMW M cars since they have deviated from the lighter M cars of past. We'll see. I'm excited for delivery tomorrow.

Getting into my car every single time feels like a sense of occasion. Love the cold starts, the driving until the temp is at optimum levels so I can engage the M2 button (which I set at Sport+ everything), the pops and burbles, the joy of shifting, and the compliments I receive every time I'm at my local Shell (which is quite often, because this thing has a TINY tank, lol).

2.) So jealous! GT3 is my dream car. Waiting patiently for the 992.2 GT3, which will replace my M2C as the weekend car later on (give or take 6-7 years, lol). |

I hope you guys are right can't wait to pick it up next week. I bought a 2020 without even had a chance to test drive it during the Covid 19 shut down. Just felt in love how it looks and with the m3/4 engine.

I've had mine for 19 months now. Still feel the same. It's a car that you wear. Love everything about it. Also, not a single rattle, problem or anything. I still think it's my "new" car even after this time. I actually had to double count the months as the excitement has not worn off one bit.

To be honest, I was a little underwhelmed by its acceleration but everything else, I’m in love with.
So far, no regrets. What else can you find in the price range with 6MT and the fun factor? |

I only ever sat in one (OG M2) before for like 5 min at a dealer lot. Never test drove it, never looked at all the colors in person, etc. Put a deposit down for the right one over the phone, and only then drove it when I saw it. With youtube full of raving reviews, I dont think anyone needs to be sold on this car.

My M2C is my daily driver. I never even saw a M2 or M2C in person before placing my order. I was looking at 3-4 different cars and was about 98% on the Audi RS3. After watching countless YouTube reviews I was sold on the M2C because of the constant driver's car theme they all preached. I test drove my car when it arrived at the dealer and I was disappointed, but I knew it was a test drive and I babied it. I have owned it for 3 months now and it has been out of the break in period for 2 months. My opinion of this car totally changed after taking ownership of it. I 100% agree that this car has surprised me with how much I like it. I typically switch cars every 2 years as I get bored with them. This is the one single car I have ever owned that I feel is is built for me. I love everything about it, okay I hate the garage door opener doesn't work unless the car is on, but I understand why. lol Every time I slip into the drivers seat I am overcome with a sense of excitement and joy. Any drive whether for fun, errands, to work, etc is an absolute treat for me. I always seem to find something that makes it fun.
This is saying a lot for me...I have ridden/owned dirt bikes/motorcycles since I was 8 years old. They always filled the void that no car could ever fill. The acceleration, cornering, excitement, etc. I bought a new Yamaha 2019 MT09 in December 2019 and I love it, rode it every chance I got. Since I bought the M2C the bike has sat in my garage and now I am debating selling it. For the first time in my life I do not feel a need to have a motorcycle. That is how much this car has surprised me, I absolutely love this car. I was talking to the wife the other day about how I don't know what to do in 3-5 years when the M2 is getting old? I can't see ever getting rid of it, but I never considered keeping it for years either??? I hope BMW makes something comparable by then!!!

It has been over a year since collection of my M2C and the more time I spent driving it hard, the more I feel enlightened by the exquisite level of man-machine connection it put forth.
There is always this 'home coming' sentiment when I drive the car, reminiscent of the 1M and older M3s. The chassis is a gem and matches so well with the vigorous S55, it can be turned into a serious track weapon with minimum mods. |

I'm still in the 1200 mile break-in period, but this car *begs* to be driven like a hooligan.
That pretty much says it all. |

On one hand, no, because I truly loved the 1 M. I almost bought a lightly used 1 M instead, but since the purpose was for a DD, a new car without worrying about driving it too much was more appealing.
On the other hand, yes, because I never really bonded with my F80 M3, including the S55. Equals: This car is a fantastic DD and a very fun car.

I have an x5m and the misses has an m4 but the m2c is the one I love driving the most. It's my daily and I find it the one I favour. I do think the acceleration a bit underwhelming at times but as a complete package it's so inoffensive for a performance car. Size, appearance, finish is all so well rounded

Every single drive in this car consists of at minimum:
5 cheesy ass grins smeared across my face 3-4 "I love this car" style comments to myself And at least 1 gas station trip😂 I've personally been dreaming about this car since the days when the rumors of an og m2 had just started. Honestly the moment I sat in mine and felt the leather on my forearm (I was angry with my m3 interior at the time) it was like some kind of Excalibur moment for me lol Since 4/20/19 I've put 19,000 miles on this thing! |

Yeah, for the most part. I love looking at it, I love talking about it on here and I love driving it. I think about the damn car constantly and i'm kind of in the same boat as LBbluem2, its the car i've kind of been wanting since the OG M2 came out.
That said....if i had to nitpick there's a little part of me that misses my 350Z. Performance wise, it was inferior to the M2c in every way, but i miss the lower seating position and it felt like the center of gravity on the Z was lower, which made it more sporty feeling while driving normally. Not having an auto-rev matching feature also gave me more to do during mundane driving. That said, the M2c is a muuuuch, much nicer place to be while driving normally. It literally feels like a luxury car to me in comparison. And part of the "excitement" of the Z was abject terror every time it came to change lanes and I had to check one of the planetoid sized blind spots. And when you actually DO get down on a twisty road? The M2 easily outhandles the Z despite the lower center of gravity that car had. Also, my ownership of the cars overlapped, and I distinctly remember getting on the loud pedal in the Z after owning the M2C for a couple of months and thinking "ugh. That's it?! This car is so slow..." |
