Though under the boot cover, so a hassle to reach if you got luggage inside the boot.

Does that master switch still exist in the 2017 upgrade ?

Yes, same module and same master switch in 2017 model.

Correct, which means you already decided to before you went out driving around. That is intent and would absolve BMW from any legal issues should someone fight a noise ticket since they now have a system in place where you cannot 'accidentally' open the valves without meaning to.

I think we need more electrical engineers in this forum.

This little red button should be easy to defeat. I am not too worried about it.

You dont need engineer, all you need is just 10 ft of cable, one beer and move that bloody button in the cabin, e.g. below a/c panel.

Why do you even need to install the stupid button or even the Bluetooth stuff? Can't you just install the exhaust and let the exhaust valve functionality work as stock? May not be as good as having the valve open all the time but close.

You don't need an electrical engineer. High school level will suffice.

If you have the tool and the connector pin into the button is the same type as the connector pin into the car connector you should be able to follow the wire into the button, take it out of the button connector, follow the other wire out of the button, remove that wire from it's connector at the car end and insert the first wire.

Is there a reason this would not work?

EDIT: tools like these stop you from boogering up the connectors and pins...

I had my installer try to fit the exhaust minus the button in the boot but sadly without the red button connected and pushed the bluetooth controller will not open the valves

I also mean not hook up the Bluetooth. Just leave all the electronics alone and let the comfort/sport button work as it does on the stock exhaust.

Yes you can do this for sure but seems a waste as the only way to open the valves is with the bluetooth so you end up with an exhaust that is on a quieter valve closed mode permanantly.

It does sound good like this but track mode is such an animal you won't want to never have it available .

The sport button only gives a few burbles when you lift off the gas and does not open the valves like in the M3/4

So the valve control and wiring is different? Could swap the electronics from the stock valve to the MPE valve then and have it work like stock?

This is very simple to get around, either bypassing permanently and having the switch basically act like a toggle instead of a momentary. If not it will need to be set up with a 12v relay that triggers for a short time on power up. (Acting like the momentary button and wired to the same pins.

I don't have an m2 I have an m3 so if someone brings a car to the Tampa/sarasota Florida area hey maybe even Miami I will create and deploy a $50 solution to this problem I promise you

And yes, I have my masters in electrical engineering

Good point. My dealer had me sign a waiver eliminating them from any liability. I don't understand getting tickets for loud exhausts when you have plenty of Harley's on the road considerably louder. They even market that as a safety feature.

Besides the red button in the trunk. Any difference with the design, quality and performance of the revised MPE with the previous version?

Does the revised MPE have a different part number, or is it still 18302412432?

No changes sadly other than red button .

Exhaust still vibrates on cold start at the tailpipes and makes a funky noise .
