Great comparo! Both sound really good, but I prefer the MPE. Would have been interesting to throw a stock exhaust in there too.

Great video!

Whilst the Akrapovic sounds more aggressive I don't think I could live with it every day

As you can barely hear it inside of the car it is no problem. You have to be good friends with your neighbors though.

Start up is really loud, but after a few seconds it dies off. Keep it in comfort and all is fine. If you go to traction mode the hell breaks loose.

I don't think the startup is so loud inside the car either.

The both sound amazing!

The MPE's deeper growl though just sounds absolutely ferocious

Thanks for this. I will be adding MPE to my order.

I have MPE + MPPK on my current N55 - but this version sounds even better!

MPE :thumbsup for me based on this. The AKR sounds like it is trying to hard to grow up.

Good point. Except if mistaken, in this video:
  • the M2 with MPE has stock BMW DPs;
  • while the M2 with Akra has Akra DPs.
Would be more interesting if the M2 with Akra would feature stock BMW DPs.

Anyways, both sound nice. To my ears, Akra more 'guttural', while MPE more 'growly'.

@MR.: not long after installing the Akra exhaust and Akra DPs on your M2, you reported about encountering repeated limp modes (turbo pressure issue) when giving it the spurs on longer trips. AFAIK some others who installed the Akra gear on their M2 equally reported here about issues. Did you find out whether the engine isues were (un)related to the Akra gear ? Could be mere coincidence, but interested to know your findings (see http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1317706).

I am still investigating. We have no clear answer yet. I am testing again end of March, and then the car is going to the dealer to double check how and what. We tried before but something went wrong with the error logs in the onboard computer.

I have not seen anyone with the same issues yet. I am the only one. Also Akrapovic does not have it on their test cars in Germany.

How is the cost comparison? They sound pretty similar, best choice would be the cheapest.

Akra is about 3 times as much around $6 vs $2300 for the MPE.

Really hard to justify the akra unless you just gotta have it and money is no object

Don't forget you also need to purchase 4 tips for the MPE as well. The Akra is also lighter, and gives a little bump in power.

Great video! Always been an Akra fan, the MPE just sounds better to me!
