Impressed. How does this effect warranty and all that jazz when you take it in for service?

I have wondered the same thing. The answers I got were there are mod friendly dealers. Which seems risky to me. What if you have to take your car to an unfamiliar dealer while out of town? Or if new owner of service manger comes in. Would you be screwed, blued and tattooed or would you get a warning to return to stock?

If a BMW field service rep sees it your hosed. It is also a federal offense to remove a pollution control device from a motor vehicle. the feds enforcing it is another matter. They go after the places making the parts first.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a BMW field service rep?

That's the nice thing about BMW incrementally improving their products - many aftermarket products will fit newer models. I totally lust after the M2.

And #has a new part number. I have zero idea why 2/3 of bimmerpost was convinced that there was no way that BMW would make changes from the M235 for this car.

Exactly. I'd love to ditch the cat and have a little extra power, but it's nice to have a warranty.

Also, what's the final word on the stock ECU tune being able to deal with this and not leaning things out?

No details from Pure on what the differences are though. As the BMW tech training doc lists the electronic wastegate actuator, taken from the N20 engine, as the only difference, at least we know that is different.

Sounds very similar to my N55 with a AR designs catless dp.

This will be my first mod to the M2 when it arrives next week

It's just fine....not sure why you think it would even affect it. Logged it with JB4 and AFR is beautiful, getting down to a nice safe 12.2 under WOT.

Downstream O2 shouldn't affect feeling. It's there to monitor the catalyst for efficiency. Your $54000 question has been answered.

Removing a restriction in the exhaust system can alter the air fuel mixture in some engines, resulting in a lean situation if the stock ECU isn't able to adjust for the increased air flow and missing cat.

Also nothing about the warranty issue yet!

That's good to hear. Thanks. Sometimes stock ECUs can't handle this and things can run lean which is bad. Guess i'm just paranoid due to the cost of the car.

Glad to know it fits the M2, it looks pretty tight in there.

I'm sorry to hear the flange arrived dented, I'll make sure our guys use a bit more packing material before shipping!
