My guess is the timing Mike is referring to is for the M3/M4 version, but not sure? Hopefully the rep from AA was just being pessimistic to not get my hopes up and it will ship sooner, but I'm not holding my breath...

Oh well, guess I'll have to let my suspension overhaul (Ohlins R&T, tension strut ball, rear end links, camber plates, adjustable swaybar links) install next week quench my thirst until then!

You can try reusing the old ones, but in some cases you'll get a leak. Better to just replace as a matter of course.

So does everyone just install these on their own? How do you go about lifting the car? Such basic questions, sorry.

So I switched from non-res to resonated EL, same catless DPs.
Still rasp as low rpm, but much more tolerable (see my vids posted earlier).
Much more enjoyable. Still great sound when ripping it

Installed mine, it paired up to my Remus Race axleback and stock downpipes. With the valves closed it’s quiet with a nice deep smooth tone. Valves open it sounds like a completely different animal.
Videos don’t do this setup justice.

Man, I have the Remus race as well and just got my midpipe. Didn't know I needed new gaskets, now waiting 2 weeks for those to ship in.

Keep the thread updated on the Remus race and EL midpipe as far as drone etc. I liked the sound of the Remus race after listening to a lot of videos. I imagine the EL midpipe makes it better.

AA el res midpipe
Stock muffler

Catless dp are the issue.

Have a listen to the BMW Invasion vids on youtube to get an idea on how to resolve it.

I would guess the AA Mad Max is what you need - or just don't drive at 2k rpm with valves open.

Idk... BMW invasion doesn't cover anything with downpipes. I'm just not sure the muffler would solve the issue right now....

I'm hoping it's the muffler valves rattling at a very high frequency

Does NOT sound good for daily driving with valves closed or open

I think I will be going to a res version of the EL due to the high rasp in low rpms.
Not sure it'll solve your issue to the level you expect. This catles AA dp with res midpipe el is EXTREMELY raspy and loud at 2k rpms...... we need a fix this isn't acceptable

I'm guessing it's because of the catless dp + non-res EL? I think at the start of the thread I read the recommendation is to get resonated EL of you have catless dp 🤷*♂️

But also over on the M3/M4 forums this post was a nice summary detailing some differences between EL and single mid. Part of it mentions EL sounding raspy / tinny when cold. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=27033049
I did resonated with AA catless dp.... not much better at alll : my friend did non res with catless dp, just ordered a resonator and same shit LOL...

Posting a quick vid. Will have full drive by vids when I get a chance

Thanks for sharing! IMO going catless and without resonators kind of defeats the purpose of the EL.

My goal is to reduce the "flatulence" and promote a more pleasant tone like a 2J or B58. I got the resonated and will use with stock dp and udder.

Hopefully have it in by mid Feb.
2k rpms is hell even with resonator. Good luck
