After leasing a Polo GTI and owning an RS3, no more VAG for me!
But, I'm not you and you seems to have no problems with owning VAGs so in that matter, I would go with most of the members here an stay with the R8. I fly twice a year to Germany to drive on cars that I can't own. I rented a GTR, Huracan, 488 spider, fType R, R8 V10+, AMG GTc and a gtc4lusso. For me, the R8 and the fType were the most rewarding on public roads (I assume that on track, the Ferrari will win). Good luck with whatever you'll pick. |

Keep the R8. Its one of the best "daily-able" super/performance cars out there and V10's are a dying breed and one of the great things that you can't get anywhere else other than Lambo's or older used performance cars. If your looking for something bigger/more practical, how about a 911?

Keep the R8 and get the warranty unless you need more room. In that case, I would vote the newest year RS5 that would be financially feasible

Manual M2C would be much for fun than R8 automatic.
I would keep the R8 if the M2C is also auto but if the M2C is manual, I would have to seriously think about the move. |

I'm #3 on the wait list. That is the option I would consider. I agree with the R8 over the TTRS because both are Auto. I miss driving a manual. Had a 2009 911 4s as a 6 Speed. I traded that for a 2012 V10 R-tronic which I test drive 3 times (that should have been a red flag to NOT buy)and convinced myself to get even though I didn't really like the R-tronic. Car was gorgeous in black with Carbon side blades. Got rid of it and got my current 2015 V10+ S-tronic in Daytona Grey and carbon blades which is a great car. Just miss driving a manual and being able to drive without all the stares/parking worries/etc. Test drive the M2 C in 6 speed and that was a fun ride-thinking the CS will be better? Anyway, that's what I'm struggling with now.

keep the R8 and purchase a daily- an older TT-RS or pre-LCI M2.

As someone who loves to cross-shop wildly different vehicles (I traded a Fiat Abarth in on the M2C and currently have deposits on a Taycan, Cybertruck and 2020 Corvette), I say, screw the TTRS. If you want a more useable fun car, go with the M2CS or a 911 variant. If you’re not one to get hung up on the relative poshness or brand obsession, I’d also throw a GT350 or GT500 in the mix.
I was sold on the M2C based on useability, trackability and aftermarket support. Last edited by Bill in Marin; 12-30-2019 at 02:21 PM.. |

Oil consumption, Oil consumption and, again, oil consumption. On my polo GTI, first tank was empty at 2500 KMs. Second at 5500 KMs and third at 7500 KMs. Should I proceed?
In my RS3, which I have owned for 8 months, 3 times full tank of oil had been filled up. The RS3 had a 255/18/30 tires on the front to try and avoid the under-steer as much a s possible. This 30 tire height was a disaster, Three pot holes with three immediate flat tires. |

Get an URUS. I mean, it's horrible advice, but i just like the Urus.

Hmm.. tough question. Personally don't care for the gen 1 R8 styling but you really can't beat that V10. And the way cars are going, I think it's going to be better to hold onto stuff like this for as long as possible. If you can swing it, why not keep it and try to find a preowned M2 comp in manual. That would be a pretty wicked pair.

I felt the same way. Seems almost too good to be true. These are the rates Neil Brenner quoted me ( I hope he doesn't mind me putting it here)
These are all Fidelity Platinum (top off the line) coverage. These are with a $250.00 deductible. The time and mileage start now and are additive. 3yrs/36000 miles $2235.00, 4yrs/48000 miles $2807.00, 5yrs/60000 miles $3213.00, 6yrs/60000 miles $3479.00 and 7yrs/70000 miles $3929.00. Pretty affordable. Anyone have any problems getting claims through fidelity? With the V10+ I'm really only concerned with a big engine failure or tranny issue. No Mag. shocks to worry about and A/C is $$ but not like in the V8. |

OP, did you ever make a move or did you keep the R8?
I am on the other side of the fence, have a manual M2C and am debating the move to an R8 V10 6MT. In my scenario, I would drive something more ordinary like maybe a mini cooper S manual and have the R8 as my special car. I really enjoy the M2C, and when I really break it down, the only thing the R8 has FOR ME over the M2C is that amazing V10 and the associated sound, instant throttle response and torque. otherwise I prefer the M2C with its smaller size, less attention, better clearance, better visibility and just overall less worries. but that V10! |
