M2 CS delivery - USA (HS - 6MT - 2NH - BLK 763M - PSS) - She's finally here

When I decided to purchase an M2 Comp in 2018, I had heard whispers of a CS coming down the pipeline. Assuming it was going to be limited production, and tough to get an allocation... I decided to throw my hat in the ring anyways...you can't win if you don't play. Jumped into my new M2C and tried to not get my hopes up.

After numerous track days and driving it almost daily, I thought I'd never get rid of the M2C. It was by far the best car I had ever owned. There was something special about it that completely captivated me every time I sat down and fired it up. It never ceased to put a smile on my face, and as an enthusiast, that's the kind of car you crave.

As 2020 rolled around, I had many HDPE events in the schedule - ready to enjoy the M2C in its natural habitat...but, we all know how well those plans turned out... While it was tucked away, I had plans to take the car to the next level (coilovers, full cage, bucket seats, the works...). Still having not heard anything from my dealer about the CS, I was ready to begin the transformation.

The weekend before I had planned to order all the parts, I received a call from the dealership saying I had secured an allocation for a CS...having almost dropped the phone out of shock, I was able to murmur the words "I'll take it".

Fast forward to today, she's finally here...

I have only been able to drive it a few miles, so I've barely scraped the surface in terms of its capabilities. A few initial impressions:
  • Photos, especially mine, do not do this car justice - this thing has some serious presence in person!
  • The Merino leather is a major upgrade from the Dakota leather in the M2C
  • The seat bolstering is significantly better than the M2C. I am a slimmer guy (6ft, 180lbs), but for me, the seats will be more than sufficient for any spirited driving or track duty
  • The exhaust sound is really throwing me off... cold & warm start sounds great - better than the M2C, but when driving (even in Sport+), it is quieter than I expected. Maybe after break-in we'll have a little more theater.
  • Was a little nervous that the M Performance car over would not fit, but very pleased that it does!

Congrats and great story!

The car does have massive presence and I agree on the exhaust - it's really the only fail, I want more of it!

I'm not in the camp of calling it a fail just yet - trying to remain optimistic. Watching the Smoking Tire review, in my opinion, the car sounded better than the M2C in that video. Really hoping the drama will increase as miles are logged, although it may be wishful thinking...time will tell.

Looking great, i personally like the black rims best with HS.

All S55 exhausts are awful, but like the Straight Pipes review:

"Deal Breaker?" "Nooooo"

Thank you! I've already made multiple trips to the garage just to soak it in. I was able to hit some of the back roads this evening (responsibly, of course)... Outside the beautiful looks, and additional rawness compared to the M2C, the adaptive suspension really is a stand out in this car. I can already tell that this is a keeper.

Its really a shame every BMW doesn't ride the way this car does. The fact that BMW has engineers capable of tuning their adaptive dampers like this makes the ride on my X4MC totally unacceptable.

The last congratulations I offered was to an identical HS-black car in Oz, and yours is equally stunning in its definition of the car and its lines. HS on this car is a total winner.

My 300-mile feeling on the exhaust is that it it doesn't sound bad, not at all. It's just very muted in the cabin. Suspect that will be different at 6500 RPM but we'll see. Love the sound on cold start; I keep the door open and one foot out so I can appreciate it when pushing the red button

Will be interested in your impressions as you get more miles, coming from the M2C which I test drove twice but that's the extent.

Congrats, very similar story here. Bought LBB M2C and was on my way to upgrading multiple things and then I got the call that I had an allocation for M2CS. Rest is history.

I agree. Outside it actually sounds really good. Inside quite muted. But haven't driven it hard yet...

Colour combination is right on. But I am biased

Beautiful!

Also just realized by looking at the registry, our cars have the same birthday.
