Awful? I don't personally think so dude! The higher you rev, the louder it gets. The exhaust note is not going to win any awards Ill tell you that, but with the M sports exhaust and the added gargles and pops on the ZCP, it does sounds pretty good. My buddy has a Giulia Quadrifoglio, and with that thing in race mode, sounds like a Ferrari!

Don't forget you can order the OG rims for your M2C. They are also lighter.

I'll have to agree on the burbles helping the car. But, no inline 6 or 6 cylinder will ever sound like a V8, especially a Ferrari V8!

Those wheels on the comp m2 are so gross. Original Zcp look way better.

You know, it's absolutely fascinating (and kind of funny!) how different people's opinions are on M2 vs M2C. Personally I've never owned a BMW and when I found out about the m2C I was really interested so I pulled the trigger.

My PERSONAL opinion is that 150lbs isn't a huge deal, I like the s55 and it's been "vetted" so to speak so I shouldn't have many maintenance issues, and I like the front design a lot. I think 400hp is perfect. Of course I'm going to do some mods such as brakes, wheels, suspension, etc. but I would do that on ANY car, not necessarily because I don't like what's on the M2.

All in all, some people will like it some people will hate it but BOTH cars are VERY GOOD cars!

If you are going to mod it why would you do an M2C instead of an LCI and saving money for mods? Stage 2 N55 feels better than a Stage 1 S55 to my butt dyno but cant speak for S55 mods beyond that.

But if you're throwing out the brakes and suspension why not do an OG M2?

The new wheels take away from the chunky muscle bulldog stance look. The M2 looks more aggressive IMO with the concave wheels

Which tune is that? What do you mean by "feels better"? If you mean "more power", I'm really curious how stage 2 N55 achieves that compared to stage 1 S55. I just found this thread that shows an N55 M2 barely making 500whp on stage 2 turbos not just with a stage 2 tune. S55 makes that power on stock turbos with a stage 1 tune.

Because in all honesty, for my particular situation it costs more money for me to buy an OG M2 than it does M2C. I got my M2C for less than 2018 M2 MSRP, tax free. If I bought an OG M2 I'd have to buy it from a dealer (likely at MSRP or slightly above), pay tax, and pay shipping on my own. I'm doing BMW Military sales btw.

If I had made the decision to buy say, a month earlier than I did then I could have secured a great deal on an OG M2 but, buying an M2 wasn't really in my thought process until June and by that point OG M2's were at the end of the line, starting to tool for 2019 M2C.

Depending on the configuration of the V8. Ferrari uses flat plane crankshafts, many other manufacturers use cross plane crankshafts, like Corvette/AMG/BMW

I personally like the sound of the Ferrari V8 way more.

I also like the sound of an M3 CSL, Metro 6R4(V6 3.5) and Lancia Stratos V6 more than any V8 on this planet except for a 360 Challenge or 458 Speciale.

6 cylinders sound fantastic, because they're half a (V)12.

US V8s sometimes sound like truck engines imho

Cheers

I drive a non tuned M2 and driving it hard(Autobahn >120mph through gears) and trackdays I find the fantastic sounding N55 restrained. It only gives 90 % or less, but that's how I feel about it. The N55 to me is the Achilles Heel of M2. Sadly. I don't want to tune(warranty and other issues)

That's the only reason I ordered M2C---> S55.

Cheers

Exactly. I wanted to tune my M2 and emailed pureturbos, great guys, very professional thinking. for about €8.5k euros I get 500WHP. But thinking of 'no warranty', older car, issues got me thinking again:

So I really wanted that tune but I opted for M2C and S55(having driven normal M4 several times) I just like the carefree revving of the S55 and the push you still get beyond 6000/6500 rpm.

I'm an M2 MPE owner but an S55 fanboy sorry Probably the only one on this board.

And we have to find a way to get rid of that OPF/GPF ceramic thingy first...

Cheers

N55 basically needs a new fueling system to make S55 tuned power. N55 cooling system will not be able to dissipate the heat of making more than stock power easily, even with aftermarket FMIC. S55 baffled pseudo-dry sump will help prevent oil starvation during high G cornering. S55 is objectively a better engine. Your modded N55 will be full of aftermarket parts and of unknown reliability. BMW does not just cast a new cylinder head for funsies.

Also, generally mods do not add value and usually reduce the value of your car. In contrast, you can look at the average selling price of E46 and E92 ZCP vs non ZCP cars for the same model year and see it appears to be higher despite both of those packages adding very little.

Feels better? Weistec tune and exhaust(91 oct) puts down 500whp on S55. N55 can’t even compare when tuning. Modded S55 M2’s are simply going to walk all over N55 M2, it is just the reality of the situation.

According to his “butt dyno”. He has been living under a rock if he doesn’t know how potent the S55 is tune/modded. It is simply a beast of a motor. MHDtuning N55 stage 2 is rated at 400hp, S55 stage 1 at 530hp.

That link you have...the M2 not only has stage 2 turbos, but also port injection, stage 3 LPFP, intercooler, full exhaust, downpipe, E85 blend, charge pipe. All that and barely cracking 500whp. Those mods on a S55 is over 700whp.

The biggest change is the engine revving higher and also the reduced turbo lag.
That being said financially I guess it's not worth as you own already a M2 (unless you have cash falling from the sky)

Reviews are suggesting the S55 M2 Competition engine has more turbo lag than S55 M3/4 and the M2 due to revised (detuned) specification to meet the emissions. Where M2C shines over the M2 is the handling at the limit from revised bushings and MDM, even though it now has more weight at the front.

I'm a current M2 owner and have no burning desire to upgrade to a M2C. That being said, if I did there is no way I would "upgrade" without driving one, hearing one, etc.

Relax, drive an already awesome car, and wait until there are some M2C's on the road for a bit.

Well, my M2 is my daily drive car. I like it a lot (too much to my wife's taste), but I'm not a millionaire, and if its fuel consumption was 20l/100km or more, it would never have entered my garage...
And, to be honest, I like my car, but I also like very much Earth, so even if money was falling from the sky directly into my pocket, I would not buy a car that has the same fuel consumption than a M1 Abrams (which is a battle tank BTW, not a BMW M-car).
One mentions the tiny difference between two inline 6 turbo motors and you bring up a 5 ton tank. Lol so much for apples to apples comparisons. I guess some people do use eco mode on their cars lol
