RK-Tunes N55 front mount intake

Installed this on my car a few weeks ago, might be one of my favorite mods thus far. Thought I'd share it with y'all

The install does require a little bit of plastic cutting.

Took me longer than it should have because i didn't have anyone to help me, but I imagine the install would only take 1-1.5 hours if you have an extra set of hands.

I am running turbosmart dv (plumbback)

Those are stock turbo sounds coming from the intake.

It sounds so damn good.

I'm struggling to find this intake for sale. Where did you purchase it?

You can purchase it directly from RK tunes website.

It's a little hard to find but if you just search "n55" on the site, it should pop up.

Cheers

That did it, thank you!

I think I saw the picture before, but didn't realize it was for the intake.

That's the one! my car isn't the most modded car, but it's definitely not completely stock either.

I still rank this mod as one of the most satisfying! Cures the mod bug for quite some time 🤫

I don't see a lot of info on the intake. I'm BM3 stage 2 91 OTS map, so I want to be a bit careful about buying an intake. I do love the sound though!

Do an inlet first -tangible gains in power and throttle response.

Yeah typically you won't see any tuners really mention an air intake as being a necessary upgrade for their OTS tunes.

Typically most of the options that were available on the market weren't significantly better than the stock set up in terms of power gains. I can't say whether or not the case is different with this intake in terms of power.

In addition I can't give you any dyno numbers because I've never dyno'd my car, but my butt dyno tells me that this intake (along with my MST turbo inlet v2), provide ample flow. Anectdotal, i know.

Not only does it 'feel' better actual data shows my IATs have also been reduced during track driving. (I run stage 2+ MHD on track)

To conclude: I dont think you need to worry about an air intake for power gains. But if you are looking for some spool noises I don't think anything else on the market makes one that sounds nearly as good as the RK tunes one. (even better than the overpriced work of art that is eventuri)

I feel like the filter right in the middle of the grilles looks a tad weird but it does sound pretty good.

I'm looking for OEM driveability with better sound. I couldn't care less about power gains, although I'd prefer not to lose power with a sound mod. My only real concern now is rain, but at present I never drive the car in rain.

How much of a drop in IAT did you experience? Can you also list ambient temps on the day of testing or provide the data?

Thanks!

I don't believe any aftermarket intake option is going to reduce power.

As far as rain is concerned, this intake has been tested in rain and snow. There is no need to worry about water, unless you're in a flood situation. It which case it won't matter what intake you have if you gas it while fully submerged.

I don't have logs from previous days so I'm just going based off reviewing track videos where I have my p3 gauge monitoring IATs.

(Typically I have my oil temps on instrument cluster, and p3 gauge on IATs)

In may 2022 on a 94 F day I reached over 135 F in IATs on track.

Fast forward to July first test day with the intake, 104 F high of the day. IATs stayed stable around 125 degrees.

I have videos on my IG page @dtx.m2

Any IC upgrade? You're saying the intake was what gave you the lower IATs?
