As the title states, I was not thrilled with the options offered for coilovers on the OG car. I've previously experienced the XTA and was extremely pleased with it so, I whipped out the caliper and started measuring.
I also called ST, who said "this is not designed for this car and will not fit". ST was kind enough to include a hole for our strut brace on the camber plate (same as the $5,000 KW Clubsport series) as well as the carbon brace for the S55 cars. To put it briefly, the ride is incredibly similar to stock but with much more poise. NVH is marginally increased. Testing on track at the end of the month and will report back. So far, it's proving to be the best dual-purpose coilover I've ever experienced out of my 9 or so sets on various cars over the years. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a "budget" coilover/ camber plate combo. |

Great job! I had ST's on my f22 and they were an amazing coilover.
That's definitely great value for money for the F87 platform as it comes with the camber plates as well. What height settings are you dialed in at right now? the heights look perfect.

372mm front 365mm rear Decided to start with a 1in drop so measured a 25mm drop from stock height. Final was roughly 347mm front 340mm rear I'm astonished with how well these ride. I even set them to what I'd use on track and cannot believe how comfortable they are |

On the spring you will see two numbers. The first is the newton/mm rate and the second is the mm length or height of the spring. From TUV cert ST linear main spring rates/heights are Front: - 50 newtons/mm (*285lb/in) and height @ 200mm/8". Rear : - 120 newtons/mm (*685lb/in) and height @ 200mm/8". * - To convert newtons/mm to lbs/in. multiply the newtons/mm by 5.7. HTH, BP

In your research about the available options, what turned you off from the TC Klines since the kit comes with coils and camber plates?

I've also been researching to see what coilovers to get should I pull the trigger later this year. TC Kline is on the top of my list due to 1) I buy into TC Kline philosophy of running softer springs and leaning more on dampening characteristics to fine tune 2) kit has linear, cylinder type springs all around as oppose to others like KW V3, M Performance, and Ohlins that uses conical springs up front which reduces precious wheel clearance on our cars, and 3) kit comes with camber plates. After coming across this thread, the ST XTAs peaked my interest as 1) I'm being honest with myself and I know I will not come close to reaching full benefits of TC Kline or Ohlins which is my second choice based on usage in my previous cars 2) i have typically not touched the setting on my coilovers once I find the ride height and dampening settings I felt comfortable with, and 3) aside from some autocross and 2-3 HPDEs, my M2 is not a all out track car. The price of the KW HAS + camber plates are pretty close to the price of the ST XTA kit making it a compelling choice for half the price of the TC Klines. It's like getting adjustable dampers for free. if the dampers are any better than stock, than that's an added bonus. Now looking to gather data if the ST XTAs coupled with front swaybar I already have and better tires could make for a decent daily driver set up that can handle occasional autox/ HPDE duties.

Ohlins uses standard 2.5"/65mm ID coilover springs front and rear.

That said, based on my measuring, I can still run the OEM front wheel with a 255/35/19 without issue. I tossed a 5mm spacer on for aesthetics. |

I was also disappointed by the fact that the "better" M3/4 had access to cheaper yet high quality coils than we did. After combing through part numbers, I didn't see why this wouldn't fit. To me, it made total sense. |
