Differential Lift Kit - Amazing sound

Just watched this video by Misha Charoudin and they installed a "diff lift kit" on their M2 and the sound from the differential is amazing.
Has anyone here done that yet or have any experience with it?

Modifications Walkthrough here:

I get the appeal of the sound but having a similar sound in my 350z due to a worn ring and pinion it will drive u insane for a street driven car.

Interesting concept about the diff lift though

I Have this kit and am putting it all in this weekend. I personally loved the sound in my M3 with diff bushings.

One of the YouTube comments said you can get the sound just by changing the diff bushings. The lift kit is not needed for sound only. Do you know if this is true?

And do you have a link for bushings?

The lift kit is for correction but it's a full kit. This is the kit I have.

https://www.teamschirmerparts.com/co...fferential-kit

If you didn't want to do the lift kit, these are available:

https://www.kmpdrivetrain.com/produc...4-bushing-set/

https://www.kmpdrivetrain.com/produc...4-bracket-set/

KMP makes very solid gear too. Hope that helps.

More than likely because KMP produces the kit for Schirmer. If you didn't want that sound, I believe there is an ECS kit that may be less harsh/solid.

KMP dual mount doesn't lift the diff, whereas Schmirmer part has a different profile to KMP bracket. Interestingly, I think KMP make the bracket for Schirmer as the Schirmer one is stamped 04.00.00210 and the KMP one is stamped 04.00.00203....I'd buy Schirmer bracket only but not interested in the solid diff monts F&R that come with it...

Here are the only two pics I remembered to take, I still have the rest of the car to put back together so I won't be able to chime in how it drives for a while.

Is this the full diff lift kit from Team Schrimer?

Sounds cool AF on track. Long motorway journey it will make ASD sound like a library in comparison!

Dom how is everyday driving with the Dif kit? Does the stereo drown out the Dif whine? Please give us your thoughts.

When I drove it the few times i did have the windows down and music on so I honestly couldn't hear it. I'll drive windows up and music off tomorrow. I was bummed when I couldn't hear it.

Ok. I heard the diff whine but it's not as loud as the videos AND I have full interior still. Perhaps that maybe why? I had full interior on the e92 and it was louder than this. So I'm not sure what the deal is with it but I can hear it, it just isn't that loud.

I just installed the diff kit. The "whine" is imperceptible below speeds of 60 mph. Above that it's a very low whine until you get to about 110 mph and then you start to notice it more. But even at that level, the sound isn't obtrusive. I have a half cage, with rear seat delete, but still have the carpeting. You can barely hear it during highway driving. I'm a tad disappointed that the whine isn't louder! I also installed full SPL kinematics.

I have a few pieces of the spl line too. Could you detail any differences in driving dynamic the diff kit made? It was so loud in the vid.

How is the diff kit minus the sound? Good mod?

Absolutely. Didn't realize the "slop" that existed with the 6mt. Immediate engagement, especially at low revs. The initial "shudder" is gone.
