Active valved axle back exhaust install DIY
I am really excited to share my latest DIY, and finish out the Active Autowerke build in my M2 Comp with the new valved axle back exhaust!
The install itself is easy, and especially so if you already have the Active single channel or EL midpipe. If you have already made that change as well, this really is quick and simple and absolutely dramatic in results. I will have detailed follow up videos for sound comparisons across the full spectrum from bone stock, to this latest full Active throughout the entire car. The difference is amazing, and absolutely worth it! Easy install with simple tools, I highly recommend this for any F8X but especially the M2 Comp!

In your video you mention the reduced weight. Do you by any chance know the weight difference? I did not weigh my Active equal length midpipe and axle back combo before I installed it.

From someone who's been waiting for your videos, a little disappointed there's no sounds on the setup. Been contemplating AA Resonated Mid + AA Axleback (OEM cats) and was really looking forward to your inputs. Please post any feedback!

Thank you for sharing; the Active valved exhaust is one of the best sounding exhausts. Pair it with one of Active's midpipes, and it's just perfect

I didn't weigh the pieces, but from just picking the up to install, the difference is significant. The OEM back box weighs a fricking ton.

Zero rasp, zero drone, the whole exhaust tone is like an octave lower.. best exhaust I have put on any car I have had before.

Sounds great! How much louder is it compared to the OEM backbox?

So significantly louder.. now keep in mind this is changing the backbox but with catless DPs, EL midpipe already in place. The change though is pretty significant in octave shift and volume, being louder. Hard to say with accuracy how much lower.. not 2x as much (maybe?) but maybe 1.5x louder.. it is noticeable but not ludicrous.
Startup is quite a bit louder, with GTS roar turned on, and currently cold start active as well. Freeway speeds is lower in note as well, and not overly loud which is nice for once you get up and actually going, longer drives wouldn't be unpleasant etc. Aggressive driving, quick revving RPMs, and aggressive downshifts for burbles is really impressive, though also I DO have my burbles in length and aggression turned down quite a bit. I like burbles a to be there, but as a brief thing, not like I am trying to sound like WW3 firing line while driving.

[QUOTE="drp087;28520666"]You have me sold!! Best sounding setup I've seen so far.
Just curious- how different do you think it'd sound with stock downpipes? So.i will have the comprehensive video up next week, so you will be able to compare stock vs just DPs. The net charge was a little louder and you could definitely hear the turbos spin up. With this final setup, I don't hear turbo spin up anymore really very much. So I would think oem downpipes would sound similar but maybe slightly quiter than my setup.

Quick question: have you turned off the burbles? If so, how (tune, BimmerLink app, etc)? In this vid you shared, they are barely there. I have stock DPs, AA EL (non res) mated w/ Dinan axleback, no tune, the burbles seem to be overwhelmingly present, nothing like yours. Turning them off I perceived some loss of power, and overall engine response. Would welcome your thoughts on the above…but your setup may dig into my wallet (new catted AA DPs are calling).

The AA single is 6 pounds lighter than stock so, expect the AA EL to weigh more than stock. The AA rear section IIRC is 8 pounds lighter than stock. The tips are heavy. I have this written down somewhere. I will update if I find that the rear weight is wrong but, I am sure about the mid.
