Exhaust tips

So, the one thing that I think could vastly improve the aggressiveness of the rear end would be exhaust tips that would stick out a bit more. The stock tips get tucked under the bumper. I'm fine with the stock exhaust, its plenty loud for my needs, but I would love to replace the tips to give the rear end a better look.

Does anyone have better tips they've used and like? Doesn't have to be OEM, so am open to your suggestions and pics. Thanks!

Thank for an interesting read but all too late as they are on the car now and almost 10,000KM, they still look like the day they went on, so maybe I am lucky in that.
They were relatively cheap as they had 50% sale on, I paid AUD$350 (USD$250) for the four so not a great expense in the scheme of things.

I've actually been through a few sets. Do NOT buy the ARM motorsports ones, they are terrible. They are "cheap" at like $170 but they are horrible quality and fit.

I'm currently using the Active Autowerke set in black. I like the look, they are def bigger and stick out more than stock but not in an obnoxious way. The only thing that could improve them in my opinion is if they had an inner sleeve to hide the piece of the pipe coming out of the muffler. If you look inside the tips you can see some silver from the mufflers tips.

we did PCD in june and stayed in asheville (great town). bavarian inn was just a nice road trip / night away.

absolutely wouldve done ED for this car if it had been an option...that was a bucketlist item for my wife and me given our 30 years of bimmer ownership.

Those actually look pretty nice. I see what you mean about the inside view though...

I really like the MP tips - bigger diameter than stock (but not overly so) and as they have a vertical end finish, stick out a little bit more so they are proud of the diffuser. If you have the MP CF diffuser the weave also matches.

They are a pain to fit though as they clamp at the top (making it REALLY awkward to get to the clamps - need very skinny hands and good tools/jointed ratchet with Allen socket).

I have the Mode Exhaust tips on my M2C with the AA mid pipe, and it doesn't change the sound at all, but it definitely fills out the exhaust cutout, and has a much better/aggressive look, and only sticks out about .5 of an inch further than stock.

I put on oem carbon fiber exhaust tips, they turned out really nice! Wounds from the kidney donation healed as well.

It's so interesting that you say this. I'm just the opposite; I want the tips to be tucked further in (but I can see how that doesn't work well if they are dark).

I did see a set that I really liked that stuck out a bit. I *think* they are the Mode Carbon ones that have been powder coated. I think they look the business.

Mode here as well. Very happy. Fill out the area nicely. The stock ones are tiny. I like how they cover the end of the exhaust tips and have a slanted cut like stock comp tips.

I went with these. https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...7&postcount=33

I was concerned about the quality considering they were off eBay and cheaper than most other options but I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived in the mail.

Not sure how the finish will hold up long term or in areas with a lot of salt on the roads. But for the price you can easily spray some high temp paint.

Those are the Mode matte black tips. They complement the stock diffuser.
