It's either on or off-I just coded mine off today.

By turning this off using coding, does it affect the sounds of the infotainment?

PNP bypass and satellite radio

My independent shop just installed the PnP bypass harness and a Blend Mount mirror tap. They then noticed that the satellite radio now sounds like a skipping CD. It worked perfectly on the drive to the shop. Any specific recommendations or anyone who has experienced the same? I love the indy shop and they are trouble shooting it as well but thought I should harness the collective knowledge of this forum Thanks in advance

I've just ordered mine from Technic. I've gotten tired of the drone. Hopefully it is what I think it is.

Why don't you just code it out? That way it would be free, and imo easier to have on and off vs. installing and uninstalling any harness.

Bimmercode? Coz it removes the burbles too and I rather keep it. Was hoping for a long time that BM3 would come up with the option to just turn off ASD but not the burbles.

I had my unit worked on last year but I forgot to ask the coder to remove it.

I think it’s easy to install the harness.

Bimmercode or esys will work.

What do you mean it'll remove the burbles? No it won't, coding is coding and it will only affect asd the same way a harness will, it'll never affect burbles which is tune specific.

If asd generates burbles sounds in addition to what the engine does when it over runs, then the burble generated by the asd system will be eliminated by the coding or the harness no exceptions, but the engine made burbles will be untouched.

So again your harness will do the exact same thing as the coding would except it'll cost more money, be more difficult to install or uninstall. Essentially coding obsoleted the use of these bypass harnesses.

The harness is actually pretty easy to install. The main benefit is that BMW can upgrade your software and ASD is still removed. That is not the case with coding.

Yes but coding is even easier to do, and even if BMW upgrades the software you can reapply the coding just as easily.

Plus with esys it's absolutely free, why pay $60 for a wire that has only one function even bimmercode is cheaper and you have tons of additional functionality.

I’ve not used Bimmercode. Couldn’t get it to see the car using enet cable hardwired to my iPhone.

BM3 which I also couldn’t get to work on my iPhone. Not seeing the car. BM3’s coding of removing ASD takes the burbles as well. I’m 99% on this. I wish it didn’t but that’s what I read and didn’t try it.

I have a harness that is free (plus shipping) to a good home. I am in the Tampa, FL area. Message me if interested.

The difference is remarkable. I wish I had been more scientific and taken before and after SPL measurements; I think it's gotta be 6 dB at 70 MPH.

For those of you concerned about the cabin noise or irritated by the artificial sound you should do this mod. This is the absolute best modification I've made to a car ever. Thank you Technic !

This car sounds great and the ASD detracts from that. Of course there's more noticeable road noise with the ASD bypassed, but that's obviously a separate matter. I suspect BMW cranked up the ASD to cover for the missing sound deadening. But the effect is overwhelming IMHO and I'm absolutely glad it's gone!

Another point is the question if you really need this option. What if we just code it out or pull the grey ASD plug from the HK amplifier? Either option is a lot cheaper than paying for this cable and it does the same thing.

I finally want to get rid of active sound in my 2016 M2.Is the only option for the 2016 M2 to still hook up the bypass harness or will coding through BimmerCode work.I don’t want to have the hissing sound that people were reporting on the 2016 without installing the harness.I know starting in 2017 you could simply code out active sound with BimmerCode and you wouldn’t get the hissing sound.

Is there any way to adjust how the ASD sounds rather than coding it out entirely? I actually don't mind it too much, but it does get kind of annoying when driving on highways with the droning noise (fortunately I don't have to do that much).

No, but I might be working on something in a few months if I decide I like ASD and what audio system upgrade options I arrive at. Something like EQ and level control for ASD from a phone app. Not sure how practical it will be to mod the box and PCB so don't hold your breath.

I've just managed to setup E-Sys to be able to code my M2 - what do I need to change here to disable ASD?

EDIT: Well, if anyone ever asks again - change F87 to a model without ASD (for example F20/F21). It works

Installed my PNP ASD bypass harness, which works great, too great, I no longer have Apple Car play (sound). It shows it's playing, but I can't hear it!

Any ideas on that? A quick google search turned up nothing. I imagine the harness only goes in one way, yes?
