My guess is traffic is lower on this forum than it used to be because the M2 is at the end of it's lifecycle. Most questions that exist have already been asked and the answers can be found with a search.

The OG M2 forum has been slowing down since the M2C came out, but even the M2C subforum has started to slow down since it's nearing EOP. I just came across this thread now, I'm not as active as I use to be here. I would however be active under the G80/2 forum, but I'm banned from there for letting my absolute detestation of the new grille be known.

Wow, didn’t know it’s gotten that bad. I see some of the threads end up on the front page with mostly positive comments, which is not consistent with how members have expressed themselves. Guess that’s because they delete most anything that not positive. It shouldn’t be like this.

Apparently, there is a zero tolerance policy towards criticism of the new G8X. I guess Bimmerpost higher-ups are in cahoots with BMW AG to protect their cash cow's reputation.. |

I still like to check in on the M2 forum from time to time...I still get a laugh about the never ending debate about the engine noise comparison between the N55 and the S55. It will probably never end. Just be happy you can still debate noise...my guess is we are probably less than 2 or 3 generations away (car wise, not people wise) from complete electrification of our beloved M cars. Someday you will pine for the sweet farty sound of the S55 over the hum and buzz of giant electric motors powering your M car.
And while I love my current F82...I want no parts of the monstrosity that is the G8x. Im either keeping my F82 for a lot longer or coming back to an M2 G87 generation someday as long as it doesn't look like a woodchuck. If it does, than sadly I will probably jump ship to a P-car. |

Forums are not what they used to be ever since social media have taken over the world. Where the build threads at? I remember Bimmerpost used to run Car of the Month awards back in the early E90 days.
People these days will rather post the same photos of their car from the same parking lot with shitty captions on Instagram because they want that sweet clout and/or are sponsored by brands to do so. Or you'll have peeps post a couple pics and say, "for more, please follow my 'gram." Like, dude, come on now, who are you? An 18yo chick with an Onlyfans account?

Amen, brother. The “me generation” has permeated all age groups. There also seems to be a constant trend toward dumbing down everything. I wonder if the pendulum ever turns back? Take a good look at some of the writing on (anti)social media. Sad.

My SA recently sent me some pics of another client's classic BMW (below). M2C is my first BMW and I am not nostalgic in general or, in particular, as it pertains to cars. That said, I do appreciate when other enthusiasts take care and pride in ownership. Your signature cartoon reminds me of the car in the pics sent to me, although I have not idea what type of BMW is shown in the pics. To protect the innocent, I 'starred' the license. I do not believe there are any other identifying items in the pics that would jeopardize the owner's identity. Thought you might enjoy the pics of the car.. ///AVM Last edited by ///AVM; 12-20-2020 at 11:07 AM.. |

thank you for the photos and welcome to BMW! The gorgeous silver car pictured is a BMW 2002 Turbo from the early 70s, the first mass-produced turbocharged BMW, although they did not produce many of them. The 02 Series that the Turbo is based on, was commercially a very successful car that, I think, put BMW on the map. I also believe that the slogan "Sheer Driving Pleasure/ Freude am Fahren" was first used in 02 Series commercials. Its successor is the E21, the first 3 Series ever. The one in my signature is a 3.5 CSL of the "E9" generation. If you google "bmw 3.0 CSL", you'll find out that it is nicknamed The Batmobile thanks to the styling elements of both the road-going version and the race car. It was also the foundation of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which later went on to making Motorsport cars for the road that we all know and love today, including your M2. In case you'd like to find out more about BMW's racing heritage and reasons as to how BMW M came to life, I highly recommend getting ahold of a copy of this brilliant documentary called Adrenaline. Have a nice day and lots happy miles in your M2C
