Why is the gas tank so damn small?
BMW gets rid of the spare tire (which is ridiculous but that's a separate topic) and there's still not enough room for a 17 gallon tank?
At 18 MPG I'll have to get gas roughly every 3.5 days. That's almost twice as often as I do in my e46. I'm OK with the gas budget but not being able to go a work week without refilling is pretty annoying. |

.... and then the warning light comes on reasonable early so you feel you gotta gas up and I am unsure in reality whether the range estimate is accurate.

Of course the M2 is built on a platform so there is only so much space to allow for the fuel tank so that is why its smaller than most of us would like. I find it a little frustrating but I have become accustomed to it and simply top off whenever I am in the area of a good gas station and my tank is below 1/2.

I honestly don't find it that bad. Used to DD my e92 m3. Averaged 15 mpg. Averaging 18 with this one and usually fill up every 4-5 days DD into the city and back to NJ

How are you only getting 18 mpg (13 L/100km)??????????
I drive it pretty hard, long work trek everyday and average 9.3 L/100km, which is ~ 25 mpg. Even on the hardest driving days on twisties I get about 11 L/100km, ~ 21 mpg EDIT: for reference, my old '07 Ford Fusion V6 beater, with seized rear and front passenger calipers got 12.6 L/100km, ~ 18.5 mpg. |

I am getting 17L/100km or 13.5 mpg in the city and I don't have a complaint on gas tank.
Stop putting that many meaningless miles on it.

I'm still in my break-in (<5K revs) and I'm averaging 15 MPG lololol (granted I hardly do any highway driving). I swear I can visibly see the needle moving on the gas gauge as I drive...

It's goes the same distance (playful driving) as an e90 m3, for much less $.

That means you only get 150 miles tops before filling up? That's f'n ridiculous. That's what I figured. My golf R has a 300hp motor and I get 20 mpg hammering it and easily get over 200 miles on a tank.
Had the same crap when I had an e92 m3. |

Ok the meaningless miles shade comment is true; I think when I'm on a spirited drive to a destination I can care less about the gas consumption. As soon as I'm driving for no reason I look at the gas meter dwindle and get anxiety lol. You really can see it move left in real time though HAHA
