Nice. I just assumed Porsche = expensive.

Wish I could give more DYI info. I always let RRT do my work bc they're great and very affordable. I do know it was their first time putting these on an M2, so they would place, cut, place, cut until they fit. It's impt to test them lock to lock.

Never had problems with them...ever

ZM2 - can you post some higher resolution pictures of them? So we can see the cuts and know the basic place to carve out the space for the tie-rods?

Thanks

Installed mine with no cutting. If positioned right, you should have no rubbing.

Nice. We'll all be part Porsche soon. The folks at my last PCA event got a kick out of it.

Any ground clearance issues with the bottom of the duct? Does it actually extend below the body of the car? If not, it might not be super effective at scooping air onto the rotor...I think I'll still pick up a pair and zip-tie them on

If anyone is interested there is a larger GT2 kit but it is significantly more expensive and a rear kit in both flavors but do not know if they will fit the M2?

Bought a pair today. Need to decide what to do with the heat shields. DrKevM5 , did you buy carbon heat shields with a hole to connect to an air hose? Looks like that in your picture :-)

From the pictures it looks like the Porsche doesn't use backing plates. Is there a reason we need them?

While we're on the subject, what's the correct terminology? Backing plate? Dust shield? Heat shield? BMW rock catchers?

It appears the official name is protection plate.

And, what is it protecting? Serious question.

I purchased the brake cooling kit from Lightweight, but they didn't send the ducts! Said they were on back order from their supplier. Got frustrated so I installed the backing plates, and threw on the brake spoilers for now since they were so cheap and I had a track event. Will probably leave them on. Can't have too much cooling.

Were installation instructions included? Would you post them? I'm curious where ducts are installed.

They did not include instructions! However, these are pics from another forum member who installed them. It appears that they hang just below the control arms. He remarked that they can be scraped on the bottom on suspension compression. I'm hoping I can position them better.

You just get a brown box with loose parts inside, if you are lucky nothing is missing (I was not the lucky guy)

Ducts on front are mounted in OEM holes beneath engine, ducts for rear are just for fun, they can not be mounted at all, even they sell it for M2.

Can not recommend this company.

Yeah I'd kill those in no time the way I drive.

That sucks, especially for what they charge.

Twt,

Could you please give us an update on your cooling solution? I'm continuing to get significant fade on hard runs even with the 997 spoiler DIY.

Thanks.

ZM2, My DIY seems to work fine. I did time trials at Barber and abused the brakes with R7s...very little fade. My front temp strips were 400+/-

Curious what rotor temps are before/after the porsche scoops. I lost one on my 997 GT3, luckily they are cheap and just clip on to the control arm. Someone should make one that clips on to the BMW control arm without having to zip tie them.

Hey Twt.

Would you be able to provide more info or pics on how you have the ducting connecting/blowing air into the caliper/disc area?

I'm trying to do this without buying expensive protection plates that have direct mounting for air ducting.

Thanks.
