Cold air intake

Hey guys, so I have found various threads of cold air intakes for the M2. I wanted to see if anyone has the CTS or Turner air intake installed on their car.

1. I want no check engine light.

2. I want it to sound good which is why I'm going with no cover.

If these aren't good intakes I will most likely go Dinan if the sound is good. I want to emphasize I'm not looking for power here I'm looking for turbo sound.

Thanks!

Did you have to cut off a wire or block a wire or anything like that? I read that a wire doesn't plug in or something like that? No check engine light?

I might end up going this route I'm looking for turbo sound that's why I want to go coverless.

If you only want sound and don't want to spend a lot just get drop in K&N or BMC air filters

Careful with how you oil it. Broke MAF sensor is expensive.

the dinan is literally the exact same as stock, just in carbon. in no way worth the insane price dinan charges.

Sorry I missed this.

Nope no cutting - just plug and play. Very easy. No CEL.

Dinan is not the same as stock.

Yes it is in carbon, but it's much more cylindrical than the stock intake. The stock intake is flattened quite a bit.

Also, Dinan has a cone filter vs. a flat filter that the OEM intake uses.

It puts out a noticeable amount of intake sound vs stock. Immediately noticeable even inside the car.

Performance wise, it's likely pretty close to stock. Many have done tests on this and proven that nearly all aftermarket intakes provide little to no performance boosts.

The price of the Dinan isn't that bad compared to others. Carbon parts are expensive, particularly with the M-tax added. The eventuri intake is over twice the cost of the Dinan and is also carbon.

I have not seen a single dyno showing power loss with aftermarket intakes

The best intake is the one that came with the car. Simply swap out the paper filters for a set of BMCs and chuck the charcoal liners.

^^ This, a million percent. You can hear the spool, especially in 2nd and 3rd. Plus, a set of nice filters is a hell of a lot cheaper than all the intake offerings on the market. Spend that extra money somewhere else.

For dang sure, but for the S55, the cheapest carbon covered intake I can find is turner, and its almost $1400. I'd rather spend $150 on BMC filters, $900 on an AA mid, and still pocket some money lol.

Wow. screw that noise. I picked up the Dinan for my LCI. Less than $500 and looks pretty nice.

Same here, I love my Dinan intake!

It might not much add much power but it's a bargain considering it's carbon fiber (N55), my dealer fully supports and have covered related parts, under the factory warranty, with it still attached and it sounds great, without being obnoxious..

Win-Win IMHO.
