M2 brake calipers: keeping these blue or get yellow, orange or red (M Performance) ?
As we know, the M2 brake calipers are dark blue (neither LBB, nor the BMW or BMW M logo Bavarian blue, nor the M2 interior stitching 'Polar Blue').
At SEMA 2015 last November, M Performance Parts for the M2 and M4 were shown, including alternative brake calipers in yellow, orange and red finish. Just different cover paint colors - nothing more. I believe to have read somewhere that the brakes are manufactured by Brembo. Personally I wouldn't mind red brake calipers on my Mineral Grey M2 featuring some CF bits, for some brighter contrast touch (on the contrary I dislike the red reflectors inside the rear bumpers - waiting for a 'blackline' version by BMW or for the easy fix with some black transparent tape). Yellow calipers would also fare well contrast-wise, but may be perceived by some as wannabe carbon ceramic brakes. Orange calipers may be a bit off limits. Of course, opinions may also differ based on the preferred M2 body color. See also this comment by forum fellow Alden_88M: Quote:

I like the blue but it's in our nature (specially us on this forum) to change out what ever is stock regardless of color. If the stock calipers where yellow we'd be talking about swapping out for blue ones.
I'm voting yellow as I think it'd look nice with white.

Yellow is the best. You need something to break the sea of black & grey, and yellow provides the biggest contrast.
Looks like it's the same color as the old Performance calipers which were actually painted in Phoenix Yellow. |

Pardon my ignorance, but these are different calipers than the ones the car comes with or just simply different colours? And how much or is there like some core refund charge?

Except if mistaken: identical, except for the paint color finish.

Damn I wish we could choose the colour from factory rather than pay more money just for the same caliper but in a different colour. It would make more sense to take the caliper off the car and just have it re-sprayed in any colour of choice. Would be cheaper too...

This really should be a no cost factory option or at least maybe $150.00 at most from the factory...otherwise it's a waste of money. Having said that, if I was getting LBB I would probably sprung for the yellow/gold calipers.

Depending on the cost...but I'll take Orange on my MG.

Thinking hard about the yellow calipers.
I've read in other forums that it makes the most sense financially to buy the calipers as part of the M-performance brake kit for the series cars. I wonder how difficult it would be to sell the included performance rotors...could help offset some of the cost.

I`ll keep them blue.
Knowing the brake dust that will be produced because of the soft brake pads BMW is always using, it will be a PITA to keep those "fancy" colors clean. Would have liked CCB though, with yellow or orange calipers would awesome, no brake dust too. |

As I've said a few times. Those are not for the M2.
That is the existing M Performance brake kit for non M cars sold with dimpled discs, however the calipers are identical on the M cars so they will fit if you by them as replacement parts. |

Unless you choose LBB, there is no need to change the caliper colour, as it contrasts quite well.
If you go blue though, then yellow for sure. Although red on Mineral Grey would look killer |

I would stick with the stock blue (voted that) if purchasing LBB, only because of the extra cost to change. But if we disregard the extra cost, I vote yellow.
LBB w/ yellow is where it's at for me. And who knows...maybe the brake dust would be dramatically reduced with the yellow painted calipers. |
